I'm generally of the view that most closeted gays should be left alone to come out when and if they choose. Mostly, this falls under the category of: none of my business. But when they use positions of power and influence to harm other gay people, they no longer deserve the protection of the closet.
No sympathy for the hypocrite. He obviously doesn't think workplace protections are a human right. So, I would like to see his views respected: he should have to run for reelection as an out gay man. It's only fair.
@6 Oh gurl thats some gay-face if I ever saw it! Could totally see him getting gang banged by a bunch of bears (if his grindr convo didn't show him hitting on a twink of course).
@13: Your comment looks gay also. Allow me to explain:
You referred to Sandiai as "a peach". As we all know, peaches look kind of like fuzzy, deeply cleft butts. And who does it in the butt? THE GAYS, THAT'S WHO. Q.E.D. (queer erat demonstrandum)
I'm pretty sure this might be a delegate named Will Morefield:

There's even a couple discussions from a while back on some forums around the interwebs. However, this guy psychically fits the bill, geography appropriate to the story (Tazewell, VA), and has an oh-so predictable anti-gay record.
I don't think this senator wants to come out to a community which thinks he needs to be punished and basically hates him. GAYRVA was right to offer him support. Forcefully outing him will only lend credibility to people who characterize activists as "bullies."
TheLast @28, GAYRVA is within it's rights to offer support, but they are not required to.
If this guy wanted folks to respect his closet, he should have shied away from repeatedly voting for legislation that targets the entire queer population of the Commonwealth of Virginia.
He is the bully, using the force of law to damage the lives of literally hundreds of thousands of people. If they choose to hit back by merely telling the simple truth about him, he has nobody to blame but himself.
TheLast @30, think of it this way, if all closeted politicians knew that by making anti-queer policy they were jeopardizing there own secrets, they would have very good incentives to stop hurting other people.
Lots of people still have good reasons to stay in the closet. Out of solidarity we owe it to others to protect their secret. But when the closeted person is actually fighting against queers, it is not only allowed, but required that their truth be exposed.
I think there is a clearer argument to support his outing than the one Dan makes (which I am OK with). He voted against workplace protections for gay people. He can't protest being fired for being gay without hypocrisy. That is pretty simple.
(PS, I know you're just trolling, I'm just keeping my skills honed).

What you are not welcome to do is undermine the rights of other LGBT people who choose to live openly.
"Will Morefield identifies as gay, has a Grindr profile, and was mentioned in a GayRVA story."

He made his bed...

And that guy getting bandied about in the comments totally has gayface.
@18 - I see you're projecting again.
