Thanks to 40 years of Republicans, there are few ladies who can afford to stay in their kitchens.

Maybe why you couldn't rustle up many lady voters, chum.

"The Moderate". His goose is just about cooked. He should get out now and throw his support to Rubio if the Party doesn't want Trump or Cruz.
4
@2: So you want the Ozzie and Harriet model after all? No Marry Tyler Moore?

Also, for the past 40 years - 20 years were under Democratic administrations.

Wow, that's not even an actual nonpology, it's "I would be happy to nonpologize if somebody needed me to."

As a lady, I hereby volunteer to go in the kitchen and cook his goose.

The poor fragile women who hear his comment will surely get the vapors!
8
The proper terminology is "broad" or "dame," not "lady."

@8: "Sir, you are no gentleman."

I'm not a fan of Kasich, but at least you could have given context to the short soundbite instead of just parroting other media.

Per http://talkingpointsmemo.com/dc/what-kas… :

"“How did I get elected? " Kasich says, referring to one his early campaigns. "Nobody was -- I didn’t have anyone for me. We just got an army of people -- and many women who left their kitchens to go out and go door to door and to put yard signs up for me all the way back when you know when things were different. Now you call homes and everybody is out working, but at that time, early days it was really an army of the women that really helped me to get elected."

Gah. All he'd have had to do was toss in "This was the 70's, remember" as an aside while he was telling the story. Or explain to people that he was talking about the 70's. Instead he looks like he thinks ladies should still be in their kitchens. (I mean, he's a Republican, so he probably really does think that, but you'd think he'd have an interest in wanting to appear otherwise now that women have the vote.)

@10: Thanks for the link to the full context. It really does sound better with that included. He maybe could have said "homes" instead of "kitchens" and avoided some of the blowback, I suppose. It's still clear that he's offering appreciation for their help either way, and that this is being blown out of proportion (as much as can be when it's a candidate that has always been jockeying for the not-last position).

Please wait...
