You morons are hanging yourselves on this one.

Please, read your own words with the eyes of a stranger.

You'll see, that you're completely bonkers.
2
Oh, fuck her. What a weaselly piece of shit. And you think you can replace Ron Sims?

Susan: honorable candidates tell voters what they stand for. I'm glad I didn't vote for you.
3
I'm not going to vote for her, but... really? You're impeaching her character because she took sick days to go canoeing over the 4th of July weekend? This is flimsy.
4
Are people really going to vote for this hack?
5
Any person who has the guts to stand up and speak truth to power deserves to be considered by the electorate. I like that she stands up for the truth even when others try to muzzle her.
6
Guess Kristy Lee didn't last too long. In an article from 2005:

http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/html/en…

Kristy Lee to leave KIRO

KIRO news anchor Kristy Lee is leaving the station and the Pacific Northwest, according to station manager John Woodin. Lee's last day is Jan. 21.

Lee, who joined KIRO in January 2002, is moving back to Boston with her husband and children, Woodin said. Lee came to Seattle from WHDH-TV in Boston, where she had been a morning weekday anchor. She has co-anchored KIRO's evening newscasts alongside Steve Raible for three years.

More evidence that Hutchinson was pushed aside for no good reason for being a strong woman.

7
Hutchison has a lot of class.
Slog, not so much...
8
I've written about this in the Slog comments before, but it's worth repeating here.

Back when Susan Hutcheson was on the air at KIRO...it had to be 1993 or so...I was in line behind her at a Belltown coffee shop. I witnessed her absolutely berate a barista for a drink mistake. The air of superiority and faux moral indignation that she displayed was unreal. I never watched her read the news again.

She is a bad person. Do not vote for her.
9
What a weird article. If she'd been a Democrat, it wouldn't have been written.

I won't vote for her, since she's a Republican, but not because of any of this petty shit.
10
" I witnessed her absolutely berate a barista "

Whomping on an obnoxious Starbucks employee...in 1993!?

Clearly, the girl is ahead of her time...
11
drug abuse and sexual misconduct? i am so applying for work there!
12
"What a weird article. If she'd been a Democrat, it wouldn't have been written."

The Seattle Lib Press have become the cast of the movie "Freaks". If anything too beautiful or even vaguely normal get into their tent, they tear, scratch and try to mutilate it until it looks more like them.
13
@5: "I like that she stands up for the truth..." HAHAHAHAHAHAHA
14
@5:
+ "even when others try to muzzle her"

That's funny too. I guess it goes without saying that you're delusional yourself, Loveschild.

What part of this paragraph did you have so much trouble understanding?
But her lips aren't sealed, really. A KIRO attorney said in court this morning that Hutchison is free to discuss the facts of the case. Judge Bradshaw agreed. “The defendants ... have stated now on the record that they would not seek to enforce this part of the [confidentiality] agreement,” he said.
15
It becomes more and more clear that this REPUBLICAN fraud is not only woefully inexperienced for the position she seeks, but is also bat-shit crazy. In fact, her statements indicate very strong sociopathic tendencies (unable to take responsibility for her actions) as well as delusions of grandeur - a symptom of even worse psychiatric disorders.

Of course, it is clear she is a liar too (multiple incidents have been proven since the beginning of her mismanaged campaign), which makes me even more uncomfortable with her prominence in the polls of eastside voters.
16
I like all of these quasi-anonymous commenters trying to bash Slog for this. Weak shit.
17
The King County Executive position actually requires someone who has actual executive experience - it is not a cynosure - what executive experience does the Hutch have? I mean this job is not something you have a secretary cover while you go out and have your hair done and lunch @ the Rainer Club.
18
Invoking 9/11 in a response to the unsealing of records in a Seattle television station employment dispute. You stay classy, Susan.
19
@18: EXACTLY!!! I cringed when she said that...
20
I thought Republicans hated it when employees cried about discrimination and ran to the National Labor Relations Board? Republicans being in favor of strong anti-discrimination laws would certainly be news to me.
21
Something about her reminds me of Anita Bryant. Anyone else?
22
The fact that she equates pleasuring her boss with career advancement tells me she probably boned her way to the top.

Admit it, everyone: she'd make an amazing County Executive. Immoral, conniving, lying, cheating, sneaking, lacking in business management skills and generally unlikeable. Her pretty face would age pretty quickly and the waking terror of dealing with an office of democrats and spending most of her day in the middle of a liberal city giving her a constant stomach ache. Maybe she'll get another facelift on the DL and go off the rails when people call her out? At the end of her one term, she'll look her age, drink 2 fingers of vodka an hour to calm her gastrointestinal discomfort and be divorced and destitute.

After she's run out of office, she'll probably lock herself in her Lexus and wave a gun around, pointing its empty barrel at her head in hopes people like her, feel sorry for her, and while she's hauled off with her useless starter pistol sitting in the passenger sheet, the botox may abate a little and a tear might creep out, expressing a little emotion in an otherwise emotionless life.
23
Local news anchors are not human beings. Surely anyone can see that by watching local news for even ten minutes?

But calling out sick on July 4th is hardly a serious crime. On the other hand, "not a criminal" is hardly a qualification for public office.

Loveschild: using "speaking truth to power" in a hairspray case like this one puts the lie to your bigoted and hateful anti-gay positions. You're a piece of work, all right; you've degraded your so-called "civil rights" positions, your STREET CRED, if you will, as a self-described defender of the African-American position, to the point where you're defending SUSAN HUTCHINSON? Pathetic. Are you going to tell us how much you want to fuck her now, like you did with the Aboriginal Australians?
24
@22, are you listening in on my sexual fantasies?
25
@24: Fnarf, that is simultaneously the most awesome and most disturbing thing you've ever said.

I see you like your women like you like your eggs: broken and moist.
26
Surely she's a goat sucker. If not, she's definitely in league with them.

Keep up the great work, guys.
27
Like # 8, my reaction to her was similar during a semi-private Lake Washington boat cruise. With alcohol and in that setting, her guard was down presumably. What I saw and heard made me want to return to shore and sanity.
28
These right wingers are so fucking phony. Holier than thou is wearing thin when you consider what liars and back stabbers and fornicators they are. Did I leave out thieves?
29
Dow also is deceptive, delusional, and unpopular.
30
First of all, if you're going to defend this cunt then grow a pair and register!

Secondly, if this was Dow or anyone else can you imagine the type of ads the supporters of this ignorant slut would be running on TV right now?

Thirdly, she is claiming age discrimination? Seriously, has she taken a look at Jean Enerson?!?!?!
31
wait, just watched the video....

SEPTEMBER 11th??!!!? REALLY?

what does she think this is, 2004?
32
I've been telling and TELLING you, Loveschild is a thesis project for a group of sociology grad students who obviously take turns writing "her" posts (which is why some days "she" exhibits grammar & punctuation skills and some days not so much).
33
I'll add on to the rolls of righteous indignation at her use of September 11th. The day sucked, it has NOTHING to do with the King County Executive Race. That couldn't be more of a red flag that you're coming from the batshit insane republican party.

The other day, at my summer camp, an 11-year-old boy referenced September 11 during a discussion about local politics. He would have been THREE at the time. But somehow he equates remembering September 11th with all levels of political discourse.

This is sick.
34
Those anonymous trolls with the first comments obviously haven't read all that was unsealed (so far) and reported in the Times this morning.

A true Repug, she ramps up her lies when confronted with the facts. The record paints a picture of not an "old" woman, but a mean, petty woman. Just what we need at the helm here in King County.

And records are only half unsealed! Woo-hoo! The awesome ride is just beginning! This is what makes politics so much fun.
35
Bwahh-ha-ha! Having read the Times article, I'm surprised you didn't mention her "bleeding hemorroid" excuse. Dee-lightful, Susan! And telling an intern's mother that her boss would demand sexual favors from her! She's one special lady. Palin-esque in her experience and self-righteousness.

I do love picking on mean rich white ladies. Drive her to tears and drink, I say.
36
@35: First of all, she can't cry. Secondly, she probably drinks like Ted Kennedy on Labor Day Weekend.
37
Anyone else remember Hutchison's election night coverage back in her KIRO days? It was terrible! She had only the thinnest knowledge of the candidates and issues so her live on-air banter was weak, which meant viewers didn't get much from her. Big contrast to Jean Enersen, who really knew the issues inside and out.

If I recall correctly, KIRO eventually decided not to let Susan anchor election night coverage. Her ability to think and speak extemporaneously and intelligently just wasn't there.

If she wasn't sufficiently interested to bone up on the issues so she could cover them on TV, why on earth does she want to spend her life immersed in politics? And why would anyone think she's qualified to do so?
38
Please. This is a woman who is on record saying "I don't have to say anything to the voters," about her experience or political affiliations DURING A CAMPAIGN.
39
Be afraid, she's gonna win, and R-71 is gonna make the ballot.
40
Susan Hutchinson may be unpopular.

She may be an extremist activist evolution-denying birther Republican.

But, since she's running for a non-partisan position, she's on the ballot at the 43rd Dems BBQ and Straw Poll on Aug 22nd at Gasworks Park.

My guess is she'll win.
41
Really? Good for her... taking it there. Fuck.
42
FWIW, in any job I have held (public sector or private sector, blue collar or white collar) the sick leave stunt would likely result in termination. Telling parents of an intern that your management will want to sleep with their child would almost certainly result in termination (even more so when it seems designed to benefit an existing employee).

Why? Because either behavior rapidly causes a dysfunctional workplace. The sick leave move burdens other employees who had to pick up the slack. As management, you had better be ready to apply a rule/standard fairly and consistently or you ought not to have the rule.
43
Y'know, she needs a nickname that we can use over and over during the campaign. Like, GW Bush had his buddy "Turd Blossom", and Sarah Palin was "governor Buttercup". What can we name this hag? Ideas?
44
If this was a Democrat, the Rs would be attacking her and we would be defending her in the same manner. Don't forget, if you sue a corporate entity, they are going going to throw in the "kitchen sink" to defend it.
45
@42: Good point. The documents show that Ms. Hutchison was insubordinate, a gossip, and a liar at work. And, she's applying for the job of County Executive. Not impressive.
46
I'm calling bullshit on your idea, @44.

There's nothing supportable about Susan Hutchison, except by Republican shit-for-brains types. I sure as hell would not be defending a lying and clearly delusional candidate without a drop of experience, and The Stranger wouldn't either.
47
I dub her: PRINCESS SKUNK CABBAGE! The skunk cabbage is a native plant, no pretty blooms, grows in swamps, and IT STINKS.

The name is perfect. C'mon, let's all start calling her PRINCESS SKUNK CABBAGE!!
48
@46: I wouldn't put it beyond the Rs in this county to go us one better and rally around Jarrett or something.
49
One note on TV personnel calling out sick on a holiday requiring major coverage. While Fnarf is right that it's not a serious crime, in the demanding world of TV news it is a huge no-no akin to your employer not bothering to process workers' paychecks. My best friend worked in TV news for over a decade, and TV coverage of major holidays like New Year's and the 4th are to networks what the Super Bowl is to a football team.

You absolutely show up because that is a big reason why you are being paid the money you're getting. If Susan Hutchinson didn't want to work the 4th, then she shouldn't have been an anchorwoman, or she should have taken a pay cut and a reduced role for someone else who would be willing to show up at crunch time... like Kristy Lee.
50
@17 - not that anyone is editing these comments: I meant "sinecure" not "cynosure" - FWIW

51
50 bucks says Dow is the next exec.
52
This is all the dirt you can dig up on her? Heck. Then I'm voting for her.
53
Um, she's on the board of directors for the Discovery Institute. 'Nuff said.
54
I can see from your comments that you sir have very little class and education, which in it's self is okay in our society. However you haven't done any research on the subject and only a fool would post a comment on something they know nothing about................
55
If I was living in the flood plains of King County, I would be a little worried about Susan Hutchinson. She doesn't believe in evolution because of what it says in the Bible. The Bible doesn't say anything about flooding being caused by failing dams. In the Bible a flood is caused by sin. If she truly believes in the Bible she might send people (maybe Christians volunteers?) into the flood plains to try and prevent sin, or perhaps get non-Christians or other blasphemer's out of the area so as not incur the wrath of the Biblical God. If Susan believes scientists MORE than she believes certain peoples interpretations of the Bible she should say so, if she refuses to say so, I would really start to worry in those low land areas.
56
Cannot anyone remember Kiro7 newcasts, or even hydro race coverage, when the banter between coworkers would go sailing over Susan Hutchison’s head, leaving her bewildered, confused, and looking stupid. Why? Because she is stupid.
57
Why can't we get pols to run on actual issues rather than what is says in the Bible? What is in the Bible interests me not in the least as it doesn't pay my wages, repair the roads, fix the dams, get groceries on the shelves. And, as for her working at KIRO, she was a joke, she could not read 5 words without stumbling over them or having to re-read them...she was horrible--laughable!! I agree with #56. If she is/was so interested in King County leadership, why did she not then run for King County council seat years ago? Get some experience? Frankly, I am already tired of the no experience Obama stuttering thru the minefields, we don't need anymore people with no experience or without a clue!

Please wait...
