$5k from Vulcan sounds to me like "we don't give a shit either way, but could use the goodwill from the gays". I know Paul Allen is more than 100 times wealthier than I am.

Yeah...I mean, every little bit helps, but I bet he's spent more than that on Star Wars figurines.

Cool that the Greater Seattle Chamber of Commerce is on the "approve" side, though. When I see "Chamber of Commerce" I usually expect fairly conservative politics.

The anti-5688 forces have their yard signs out already and they say:

PROTECT OUR CHILDREN.(picture of family)
SB-5688/Referendum-71

REJECT
Marriage = One man/ One Woman

@ Baconcat: Can you (or anyone else who sees one of these signs) please email a picture to me at this address? Thanks!

Cheap assed Vulcan - $50,000. would have been no stretch - they just insulted themselves ... now I will not buy one of their condos.

Dom, sent the e-mail that has the raw jpeg of what the placard says.

None spotted "in the wild" here in Seattle quite yet, though!

They're saving their money up for the fancy version of SR-520 floating bridge - that's when their checkbooks open.

No, seriously. Mark my words.

I got an email TODAY from WAFST notifying me of a community organizing meeting that happened here YESTERDAY. sigh.

@3 I really, really despise the way they designed that yard sign. It's so blatantly pandering to a sentiment that has *nothing* to do with the issue at hand. Really now, using children as a stand-in for one's own biases? I'm hopeful, though, that the design is so distasteful to all but the most deluded right-wing wackos that it actually helps get Ref 71 approved.

Can you even imagine the frame of mind you'd have to have to put something like that on your lawn? It's got to be something like 'I'm glad I'm helping keep those homo perverts away from my kids' and just thinking about it almost makes me sick to my stomach.
13
@12: Well, it helps moderates and those who support domestic partnerships realize what the wrong vote is at any rate.

This website www.r71signs.com has links to large JPEGs where folks can print out Approve R71 signs or buy yard signs/stickers.
