Well heck. We'll just have to try to raise three times the money so they all get the usual amount.
2
I love that you listen to your readers. Bravo.
3
yeh good decisions all around
4
Elderly, sick, dirty homeless people all over the city will proclaim you Gods...
5
WOO HOO!
6
Thanks for letting slogsters weigh in on the decision - I really didn't expect things to change for this year. Congratulations to the three NPOs and I hope the auction brings in a ton o' cash for each of them.
7
The decision to split the proceeds was made in a fair manner, and I think Sloggers made great selections for the top three. Well done!
8
Bravo Paul! Excellent decision!

It would be incredibly impressive if because of this decision, that interest was dramatically increased and you could increase contributions by 50%!

Good luck!
9
Perfect.

Well, a few of us non-profits didn't fare well with our own auctions this year (much, much less than what we're used to seeing). We hope The Stranger is able to raise some serious money for these organizations. We need the help!
11
You should have people who vote for the auction identify their choice for which of the three get the money - to insert an element of competition betwixt them - and then after splitting it three ways evenly, announce how much was bid in total for each of the three choices - and keep daily running totals.

That works well at auctions.

That and plying them with booze and chocolate.

Awesome. Very gracious of you.

Thank you! Ronni Gilboa, Urban Rest Stop

Paul - I think it would have been fine either way, but I think this was a good decision, given how close the vote was (and the need for non-profit $ given the economy).

@11 Will, these things are so much damn work already, without incorporating the crazy ideas of everyone and their mother (crazy ideas meaning things that will unnecessarily complicate things/confuse people, with little to no benefit).
15
Psychology is critical for successful auctions.

Many thanks to everyone who voted for Banchero Friends Services. You are strong advocates and dedicated supporters. Congrats to the 3 Strangercrombie choices you all do great work and I hope you have a successful auction this year.

As I mentioned in my vote all charities are worthy if they are reaching out to help all needy people. The list is endless because I am biased my vote was for Senior Services. As a field assessor I see all the need for helping people from all ages and situations. Thank you for your generosity. Thank you voters.
18
You are all morons. The only charity on that list that helped people who legitamatley couldn't help themselves was banchero. Nice job helping a bunch of fuck ups and leavingthe defenseless to fend for themselves.
19
Congratulations to Senior Services. As a Volunteer Driver for this organization, I have seen many deserving seniors get rides to life saving appointments. They are gracious and extremely thankful for their rides. God Bless them all and all who care for them.

18. your heartfelt sentiments are certainly appreciated. Let's get some of that energy moving in a positive way towards helping our friends at Banchero. A personal donation?
XOXO
Jamie
