Well that takes care of that. Next.
2
my gawd, did the stranger just get the scoop before seattlecrime.com?
Huh.

SPD: win
Justice: draw
Clemmons: loss

*sigh*
5 people dead that didn't need to be. 9 children of police families left without their hero.
So sad.

He who fights monsters should see to it that he himself does not become a monster. And when you gaze long into an abyss, the abyss gazes also into you.

β€œYou gave him an opportunity of showing greatness of character and he did not seize it. He will never forgive you for that.” - from something by the same guy

@1 yes, next. preyers go out to the families of the deceased.
5
Heartbreaking situation. My condolences to the family and friends of the deceased.

"he challenged officers"

Uh huh. I was telling my co-worker yesterday, there is no way this guy is coming in alive. There was zero doubt in my mind that the officers would "see him reaching for a gun" or something and kill him.

That's not to say that I don't think this guy is a scumbag and we are better off without him in society, I just hope there is a outside investigation to see if the police acted as judge, jury and executioner.

Now, I may be wrong, the guy did kill 4 cops, I would venture that there is a fairly high likelihood that he did want to take out a few more cops and the officers did the right thing by opening fire on him but I hope the heinousness of his alleged crimes doesn't effect an investigation into the police conduct in his capture. We do live in a society where people are innocent until proven guilty and police officers don't get to decide guilt and execute the perpetrator on the spot.
7
Sorry to burst your bubble, John M, but officers absolutely get to decide guilt and execute the perpetrator on the spot when:

A) The perp is wanted for murdering four cops;

B) He's armed and dangerous; and

C) He refuses to obey a lawful order.

Good riddance to the scumball. And as I've stated before, my sympathy to the officers' friends, family and co-workers.

Sorry to burst your bubble, John M, but officers absolutely get to decide guilt and execute the perpetrator on the spot.....

....never. Applying the language of execution to police work demeans the decision that this officer had to make.

whatevs, see you in hell fucker.

I wonder if the Stranger will acknowledge the good work done by the Seattle Time, considering that most of their reporting on this story came from that organization. Or will they immediately return to the incredulous hackery etc etc etc.

Seattle's only newspaper indeed.

@3, not in America; this was our live gladiator battle that was given play by play with all of our media sources.

Damn good entertainment for all!!

Oh and remember that we're sending another 30,000 to die in a meat grinder!
11
the inevitable outcome to this tragedy - clemmons had no plan to face justice. now the relatives get to suffer the shame and punishment the killer deserved. its the basic code of human society.
12
I hope this is over now. My condolences to the family of disease suspect and also to the officers families. It's a terrible, terrible tragedy.

I just hope that everyone who was there is not targeted, i'm concerned about innocent people that are being roughed up just because they're a relative of his, i was not very pleased with the way some of the relatives and innocent people have been treated , emotions are high but people are innocent until proven guilty, so caution needs to be heed.
13
the family of the *deceased
14
@13 that cleared it up
15
Chicken came home to roast... R.I.P MO it was a good death..
16
i don't believe in the death penalty, but some cops obviously believe in a death penalty without trial.
17
Mother fucker!

If there was one person who should have had a long life it was this guy. Now he doesn't get to suffer for his crimes by spending decades rotting in a cell like he deserves, and every friend and relative of the people he's killed are denied the opportunity to look him in the eye and tell them what they think of him at his sentencing hearing.

Yes, good riddance, but he sure did get off easy!
18
@17 - Oh, I don't know. He'd been shot two days prior in the gut, certainly had peritonitis and was on the edge of septicemia. I imagine he suffered agonizing pain for those two days.
19
Who really cares how Maurice was killed, he murdered 4 law enforcement officers for no reason other than his own ignorant hatred for human life. He deserved to be shot and killed as soon as he was found whether or not he was armed. It is people like you, liberal human rights activist that let him get out of jail in the first place. It's time to bring the way the law used to be, an eye for an eye. Scumbag! My heart goes out to the officers and their families.
20
"deserved to be shot" @19? does anyone in the world REALLY deserve to be shot? that is a callous unsurprising statement.
21
@20: The world is a better place without this man in it. I don't know that there's much room for argument there. With the exception of a possible civil suit from his accomplices/family, I don't see a downside to this.
22
Don't worry about him not suffering in THIS life! I would imagine that right about now he is sizzlin' in a much-deserved HELLFIRE! Thank God he's dead!

God bless the families and fellow officers of the slain HEROES who protect us every day!
23
So many ways to think about this ,,from both sides ..... but let me say , I lived in the same .... Hell with Maurice .... Im not violent nor ever had anything to do with drugs and i doubt that he would remember anything but my Face.... but we existed in the same barracks for a couple years at tucker unit in arkansas in 88 and 89.... definetly he was ill ...how and whatever happens should and can only come from above...however , they are all dead !!!! Rest In Peace.....Everybody....<><
><> All my Prayers!!!!

Please wait...
