Well played, sir!

I'm betting on an army of volunteers.

Remember when they said we couldn't pass 728 or 732?

Remember when they said Mike McGinn and Pete Holmes would never win?

This is the same.

Sign early. Sign often ... um, wait, ignore that.

And please don't sign using the soon to be published signatures of those who signed hoping to ban gay partnerships, that would be bad.

At first, I thought the headline said "failed" and thought "well, that was over quick."

I'm thinking they won't have any trouble getting volunteers. This will be a grassroots effort (see what I did there?).

Proponents of Initiative 728 and Initiative 732 paid a great deal of money to get the signatures necessary to get on the ballot. It's not so much that initiatives are hard to PASS -- though they often are -- as they are hard to GET ON THE BALLOT.
5
You know, if everyone got a page of the initiative and filled it out from all their friends and relations and people they run into - there would be enough signatures in a week.

Hmmm.
6
god damn it i hate canvassing but i will collect signatures for this one. and i don't even smoke pot. it's about rights.
7
Where do I sign up... literally?
8
Yeah, where do I need to go to sign this thing?

What: Public hearing on HB 1177 and HB 2401
When: Wednesday, January 13 at 1:30 p.m.
Where: Hearing Room B, John L. O'Brien Building, Capitol Campus
Map: http://maps.google.com/maps?q=367+14th+A…
More info: http://cdc.coop/2010_legislature
you may be able to find someone with a petition there... and it would be good to have a good showing :)

I am one of the co-authors of the initiative and appreciate the kind and supportive comments here. We're in the early stages where we are not yet approved to circulate petitions for signatures. That will take another month to six weeks or so. In the meantime, feel free to visit our new (and admittedly spartan for now) website sensiblewashington.org. And yes we'll be on Facebook and Twitter and whatnot quite soon.
11
OK, so it's at www.sensiblewashington.org then?

Thanks for the link. The Suburban Times and the PI don't link to it.

I don't smoke pot. But I would sign the petition, contribute and vote to pass it. Of course, it means we'll have to endure a year of insane claims about "gateway drug" and "pot addiction". But as long as cigarettes and alcohol are legal, there is absolutely no reason pot shouldn't be as well.

@3 Ditto. I had to re-read that headline.

Please tell me that the signature forms will be printed on hemp paper?

How can I help get signatures!? I live in Vancouver and believe that this should be on the ballot.!!!
15
How long do we have to get the signatures and where do we go to volunteer!! Feel free to email me jmengland2007@gmail.com

I do smoke pot and have for 50 years that's right 1959. I am not addicted to anything but coffee. I am sick and tired of this narcs and heads stuff its hard work for an old guy like me to find even a joint everyone thinks I am a cop or some thing but a kid has no problem finding pot aint that something.I am also tired of smoking in the basement or with towels covering the crack under the door. Why should we stoners have to fear pounding on the door this is a civil rights issue that's been a long time coming up so yes I will sign. Lets do what ever it takes to get marijuana leagalized asap also please call your legislators ask them to pass HB 2401

@14 - sure, Vancouver WA signatures are always good.

Please wait...
