It isn't a stretch at all when we consider that one of the two Senators from Washington at the time of the coup (Harry Cain, soon to be succeeded by Henry Jackson) was a member of a hawkish lobby in the Senate that supported the overthrow, and that, concurrently, wanted to extend the Korean War into China. Anyway, the link in that clip stands on its own right: What's being said here is that a World's Fair emerged out of and reflected global events (of which Eisenhower's coup in 1954 was one example) shaped by the conflict between the US and the USSR.
