Sly disingenuousness never gets stale.

@1 - why do you hate MSFT so?

ahhh...the pain of fandom. Being a total fanboy of Mc ginn makes your org look like a fucking idiot every time he does.

how can you be a critic when being a critic equates to hypocracy of your fervent lobbying to get the man elected?

must be time for some more ejaculatory ASK THE MAYOR Slog/Questionland townhalls.

The longer they delay this, the more happy that I bought a car 3 weeks ago and started carpooling across 520 instead of taking the Sound Transit 545. My commute from Redmond to the west side of Capitol Hill would regularly take more than an hour on the bus, and now averages about half of that since I can easily route around the 520 choke points.

Is it even technically possible to link a light rail train running on the 520 bridge to the (what will be) existing line running underground through the UW? From what I've read, that's too much of a elevation change to be viable.

This documents why light rail on 520 is a bad idea from a technical standpoint:

Maybe Seattle employees at Microsoft should just move their nerdy asses to Redmond or Microsoft should just pick up and move across the lake to Seattle?

I drive 520 every day. For every 545 bus, I see probably three MSFT connector buses. Some of them even tow trailers that hold multiple bikes. Every one of those passengers can probably afford their own car, but choose Connector because it's better. Is McGinn saying the connector buses should move over to make way for a theoretical, yet to be planned or implemented bus rapid transit or rail system? Microsoft started their connector service because they realized that Metro & Sound Transit would never be able to serve their workforce as adequately as they could. Ballmer would be right to tell McGinn "you're welcome, and fuck off."

That being said, there is certainly room to argue that the Lake Wa Blvd ramps should go and that transit connections at Montlake need to be better. You could also reasonably debate that the HOV lane should be restricted to Vanpools and larger (public or private), but not 2-3 person carpools.

@5 - yes, it's technically possible. They displayed it at the 520 EIS.
