Just to nit-pick, I'm pretty sure that clip is from 2002, hence why Zach looks drastically younger and thinnner.

Youtube may have misinformed me.

Re: McCain, he's right. There's more to this country than what you can see from the top of the Space Needle. If you guys ever left your little bubble, you'd know that.

The Crime on the Agenda link needs fixing!

@4: Fixed, and thank you.

From the article about the old cold case it says the statute of limitations for rape was extended to 10 years. Is that it? Why can rape investigations last forever.

@3 Really? The *majority* of Americans want to completely start over? You do understand that what he is really saying is the majority of American people want everything the GOP wants, which is demonstrably untrue. And when Republicans say "American people" they really only mean "people who agree with me". I assure you, the American people don't want Congress to start over and spend another year or fifty going through this hateful debate.

@7 what's funny, is that i kind of do want them to start over. i want the simplified what-should-be-the democrat option, and i'm tired of dems and repubs unwillingness to take health care reform seriously. oh, but they'll have a hearing on toyota! that's great! good work there, congress! you put a band-aid on a paper cut while still ignoring the gashing wound.

The republicans don't ACTUALLY want the dems to start over. What the repubs really want is for the dems to stop completely and just forget about health care reform altogether. They're only arguing about "starting over" so that if the dems truly did try starting over, the repubs would jump on it and say "this will take too long, we need to worry about: (jobs, the economy, wars, etc.) instead." Although they don't actually care about any of those things either.

The republicans have only one goal: To stop EVERYTHING the Obama administration tries to pass. The reason they only have that one goal is completely for short-term political gain; e.g., they think it'll net them more congressional seats and maybe the presidency if they can gum up the works entirely.

I thought everyone knew that by now?

Grant,
I find it odd that there is no mention of the NY Governor fiasco in you news snippets. Gov. Paterson already dropped out of the race and there are even calls for his resignation. If he does, he will be 2nd governor in a row to resign in NY state.

I believe this is big news. Gov. Paterson made domestic violence a top priority and certainly approved of NY State Sen. Hiram Montserrate's expulsion (who had domestic violence issues of his own). In addition, there's a good chance Gov. Paterson "tampered with the witness" directly or via the state police. In this case, the witness (victim) was the former companion of one of Paterson's most trusted aides, David W. Johnson who evidently has a history of domestic violence. This story is quite sordid and important.

Lark, you're absolutely right that it's a huge story, but for some reason it's not getting any coverage outside of New York. Thank God I'm an NYT subscriber, because nobody else seems to be picking this one up.

Please wait...
