The difference? The Times has recieved stacks of cash from Microsoft to support the 520 design.

Please.

Show some consideration for Gregoire and SDOT and the state govt, okay?

No one could have foreseen that 520 should work with transit, or that one day there would be a north south light rail going right under 520 and that therefore there should be some kind of a whatchmacallit, a "transfer" or a "connection" [sorry, WDOST doesn't specialize in those high faultin' "transit" concepts, it is a TRANSPORTATION agency, get it, that means CARS NOT TRANSIT, okay?].

So now to suddenly come up to them and suddenly demand somekind of whatchamacallit, "integration" or "systems planning" to create some newfangled thing called a "transit system" is really unfair, you guys.

How were they supposed to know there would be a train or that bus lines should connect with the train? Those aren't even State programs, this "train" thingy and this "bus" doohickey!

Everything does seem like everything else if you squnch up your eyes enough.

i agree with @1. if microsoft put in a full page ad saying the 520 plan wasn't responsible and should include transit, seattle times and eastside legislators would be falling over themselves to change the plans

Remember that people aren't really talking about massive changes before 2012, most of the light rail additions wouldn't even START before 2016, other than ensuring the pontoons and bridge offloads can handle light rail - and that isn't even before 2012 for 2 of the lanes ...

Triage. Most decisions now are fairly easy.

Please wait...
