One, single Senator, doesn't know, how to, use, the comma.
2
He's retiring. He doesn't care. It's the GOP that put him up to this and they will most likely reward him with some "consultancy" jobs that pay in the 7 figures after he leaves office.
3
Can't somebody toss a stink bomb into his private elevator right before the doors close?
4
I honestly have respect for the man. It was the Dems who reinstated PAYGO (a rule that says you actually have to pay for what you legislate.. weird I know) last month to 'combat fiscal irresponsibility' yet this Jobs Benefits package comes up and they go "just kidding." The can't have it both ways. Either they suck it up and start figuring out how to pay for things, or the don't get to call themselves fiscally responsible.
5
@1, just what I was gonna say.
6
More proof that Republican'ts hate the every day American, but will shit themselves bending over for the rich.
7
These are her spoken comments, Kulshan; commas are where she inserts pauses.

Interesting that Republicans are NOW insisting on PAYGO. Where were they during 8 years of W? Voting for every budget-busting money bill he sent their way, that's where. Hypocrits every one.

Sen. Bunning: just another example why the GOP is the Party Of No.
8
You do know cutting medicare reimbursement is the only real mechanism of cost control in the current health care bill?
9
Just exactly what is so wrong about not spending money until you know how you're going to pay for it?
10
Personally, I love the 12,800 jobs created (net) in Washington State last month, thanks to our wise President.

But if Kentucky or Alabama or whatever want to opt out, why don't they just send the money back, instead of relying on the usual corporate welfare and federal dollars that they DO RELY ON.

Go thru the budget and remove all money in his state. Then pass it with a majority vote, as the Senate Leader is permitted to do by the US Constitution and official (not "understood") Senate Rules, with the VP as a tiebreaker.

Fight fire with incendiaries.
11
no PAY GO for wars and pet contracts? but suddenly it's time to demand fiscal responsibility when peoples COBRA subsidies are on the line?

epic asshat move.
12
@9: Sorry, but I call BULLSHIT on that whole "fiscal responsibility" theory vis-a-vis Bunning's actions.

If that's the case, we should be suspending Social Security & Medicare payments "in this budget crisis" since that's the REAL source of future deficit spending, shouldn't we?

But, more to the point, if Bunning was really so gung-ho to close the defict spending gap, why did he VOTE AGAINST forming the bipartisan Task Force for Defict Reduction just one month ago?

Bunning = BS maximus.
13
@4 I have some level of respect for him until I learned that he's in cahoots with Sessions, who wants to tie passage of this bill to a reduction in estate tax for the ultra-rich. Obviously the $ is better spent on the unemployed, but I for one am sick of the fiscal profligacy in DC. They are just going to spend away until we are Greece. (maybe already are)....Government is very poor at pick and choosing activities to reward, and everyone wants their own activities and interests rewarded. so long as DC has a printing press this can go on a long, long time...until the Ponzi scheme blows sky high
14
we could always MAKE HIM CARRY OUT HIS FILIBUSTER THREAT.
15
@11, I completely agree with that, but it was the Dems who gave him the power to do this by reinstating PAYGO. That is to say, to be held accountable to the rules they themselves just put in place. And now their vilifying him for calling their bluff. I'll take someone in a position of authority calling out hypocrites in government, even when it's coming from a bigger hypocrite. It needs to be done.
16
The best part is, Jim Bunning is completely senile and has no idea if he's even sitting down or standing up.
17
Hmm, good point, @14.

He wouldn't last a week, especially with no breaks.
18
The big question is who paid Bunning to pull this stunt, because Jim Bunning doesn't put on his shoes without a $1,000 check (bribe). The guy quit his job months ago, and is now just trying to smear as much crap on the walls as he can before he leaves (while making a tidy profit). Fucker probably tanked baseball games for money too.

He should do Kentucky a favor and just resign. He could do America a favor and just drop dead.
19
Taser the old guy and remove him from the Senate chamber already!!

The key is Democrats really need to do a better job of pointing the blame at the Republicans who are behind this and they have been doing this for many months. The first unemployment bill was delayed from the end of last summer until November by a similar tactic. You can see the comments on the newspaper are trying to use this by saying, look, see, the Senate cannot even get any of their business done do you want them running your healthcare?
If Democrats tried anything even remotely similar to this they would be totally trashed by the media and such, but the Seattle Times headline just yesterday implied that the Senate as a whole was to blame for no coming to an agreement. If has been clear since last year that Republicans want to do whatever they can do to truly fuck over Americans, then point to the Dem's who are in power and try to take back congress.
Republicans are unemployed too so their plan will most likely backfire big time.

Yogi Berra nailed it:

"This is like deja vu all over again."

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_Stat…

would be nice if the media nailed 'em on it... oh yeah, after the telecom act and subsequent media consolidation blech all; that'll fucking happen.

I dont care how they pass it, it needs to be passed. A lot of us still need that unemployment check to provide for our families, (Yes, I was one that got cut, found out at the unemployment office this morning). I am chomping at the bit to return to work, and we have some big jobs coming up in our jurisdiction that will put a lot of out of work construction workers back on the job. But we dont need this idiot with a single NO vote stopping the help that we need while we wait for jobs! I am watching the rest of the senators to see if they do something soon, while I may not be working now, I can, and WILL be voting in the future!!

During the Bush/Cheney administration all that happened was wild irresponisble tax cuts and war spending while at the same time massive cuts were made to helping the poor and disadvantaged here in America. PAYGO was blocked time and again by Republicans who always claimed to be the fiscal watchdogs. Bush/Cheney doubled the national debt in just 8 years. Now Republicans are balking at providing unemployment insurance for those who were
laid off from their jobs? Do they really think that the people of America are this stupid that they will not punish them on election day? It is a disgrace that one senator can give so many hurting Americans the shaft. This is why I never ever vote Republican even though I do not love Democrats all that much either.

Please wait...
