No way. Best season yet, since they're actually answering things, in their weirdo Lindeloff & Abrams way.
But seriously--they can't possible make the ending any more bizarre than the ending of Battlestar Galactica was, so based on that alone and them saying they've been planning all this out makes me want to see how it ends, after spending the past five years going "WTF?"
This season is absolutely sucktastick so far. I worked hard to get caught up on the last five seasons online so I could watch the final season in real time. What a waste.
Really? Disliking Lost is a side-effect of my homosexuality? Or is self-involvement-to-the-point-of-not-being-able-to-get-into-a-particular-television-series one of the side-effects of homosexuality?
It makes a lot more sense to care about how a TV series ends than to believe that because "your" sports team won a game it reflects well on your city, college or country. That would be like me believing because I like Jack and Kate fucked Jack that means Kate is going to fuck me.
TV fans are just fans but sports fans are delusional and they get sooooo pissed off if you have the nerve to say so.
Modern Family is cute, but hugely overrated (that fat gay guy and the fat Hispanic kid are great; everyone else is overacting...) and 30 Rock WAS great and jumped the shark this year.
You also don't like Glee. So yeah you’re kind of out of touch. I still love you but srsly it's not cool yet to hate on Glee (wait for the second season at least) and its not cool anymore to hate on Lost. (yeah yeah you got frustrated) As an FYI tho it is still cool to hate hero's.
I love 'Lost'. I think it's some of the best, most provocative and challenging writing you will ever see in such a mass-medium about issues of spirituality, faith and redemption. And it's cheesy and fun.
And, I thank you Dan, for pointing me to another write-up of the show. Part of my enjoyment of the show is reading smart people ruminating on the episodes as they come out.
Slate carries a lot of writeups for shows I wouldn't touch with a ten-foot pole as well as doing NO writeups for shows I follow religiously. I also don't care for their "we're hip and if you don't agree with us, you're not" stance. So who cares what Slate thinks? Not me.
Ha. I just read that Slate article and it is not "smart people ruminating on the episodes as they come out." It's a bare-bones listing of wackiness. There are some great writers tackling the show. The attempt to make sense of 'Lost' is as entertaining as the show itself.
@36 :) Actually I'm the same way... I own one, but it's only hooked up to my computer. But I get my Lost fix at a friend's house. (She just got a flatscreen even bigger than Savage's... it was overwhelming watching Lost on it, especially since I was buzzed...)
Okay, so (1) it's incredible that people are actually getting defensive about this but also (2) LOST is great. In fact, I will say that LOST is great enough to outweigh its unfortunate consequences: V, FlashForward, etc. etc. etc. The only thing that would make it better would be if the goddamn cast stopped flaunting the law.
I've thoroughly enjoyed all these comments. I love Lost. A former co-worker (now dear friend) practically forced me to start watching it, and now every week a group of us gathers in her sister's basement to watch it together on their huge-ass tv. We bring snacks, we laugh at the cheesy stuff, we swap theories about what's going to happen next. It's lots of fun. I've never experienced a television show in such a social way before.
@51 I don't have cable, so I also watched BSG with some of the same Lost crew, same basement. When we've had these long Lost hiatuses, we missed hanging out together, so a few of us started getting together every week to watch True Blood. Sometimes we would talk and drink wine for so long, we never got around to watching the show. All of this was pretty much inspired by the Lost experience.
I wasn't aware that this was common when there were only 3 networks. I'm thinking maybe Twin Peaks inspired such a thing, but I didn't watch that back when it was on so I don't know.
@52 Interestingly enough, the same group of people I get together to watch LOST with (a pretty solid group of 10 or so friends - seriously it's like superbowl sunday everytime a new LOST episode is on) had a twin peaks marathon over the last LOST hiatus where we covered both seasons two episodes at a time.
@53 Awesome! We did True Blood two episodes at a time, too. I was watching Twin Peaks with my husband and his friend (who has it on DVD) for a while on a regular basis, but various things have gotten in the way of that routine. I think we were about 3/4 of the way through the whole series. I'm going to suggest to my Lost crew that we watch TP when Lost is over.
What, I didn't get into Lost until last year, and I'm pretty damned hooked.
Is Twin Peaks shown on TV in syndication anymore? I've never seen it, and I'm dying to--it's all anyone talked about years ago, but I was too young to appreciate it.
So you don't care about a show, Dan; I didn't care about the Olympics, and yet, it was on the TV for 2 whole weeks whether I liked it or not. I survived.
Someone out there is caring about Lost, obviously (me!), and someone out there still gave a damn about the Olympics I just still haven't figured out who.
I have no interest in Avatar but it would be silly of me to say no one cares about it. LOST is great, fuck off. For the record though, it's actually true that no one (Dan excluded) cares about Garfunkel and Oates.

Thank you! No one cares!
Out of touch much, Dan?
or I could just let people enjoy the stuff they enjoy without telling them that no one cares about it.
I couldn't make it through a single season of lost, but i watch doctor who, so who am i to judge?
But I love Modern Family and 30 Rock!
Not because of the Lost thing, but because you wouldn't give me your Mac N' Cheese the other day. I'm still hurt.

WE are not NOBODIES!!!!!
The ratings for the final episode will be HUUUUUGE!
Go listen to your "Hello Dolly" cast album for the 9 millionth time and leave us ALONE!!!!
At least in one person's ego-inflated world.
I never cared.

No way, Dan:
Lost-watchers rule; you drool.

@11 Dan, I have cookies but no Mac n Cheese today. Would you like a cookie?
Gillian Anderson works at the Stranger?
I do like Modern Family and 30 Rock, though. I'll admit that Cougar Town has made me laugh a time or two.
Now, I hear next episode they have Jack bungee jump from the Lighthouse while Sahid does the moonwalk.
Also, I think they give anonymous commenters a bagel once a month.
2. Knock it off with the all caps. It looks like
my mom wrote this post.
That's definitely one of the things I love about it... it's an experience that was common when there were just the 3 big networks, but now it's rare.
