The writer of the blog you linked to, Steve Montgomery, deserves some sort of award for the Variety-style three-word plot synopsis his headline gave Humpday: "Gay Sex Challenge".
That aside, what a makeover for Lynn! The upsweep brings her lovely face front and center. My mom aimed at this style once in the 80s and missed by a mile, but Shelton hit it out of the park. Here's a closer shot of her backstage with the award: http://www.flickr.com/photos/38025217@N0…
I finally got to watch Humpday a few days ago (with an assist from netflix instant), and then went and showed it to my roommate a few hours later, and I gotta say, I thought it was great. Particularly noteworthy to me was how genuine and rounded the character of Anna was. I'm always complaining to friends (I'm not a total downer to be around, I swear) about how I can rarely watch a movie without cringing and rolling my eyes at the crap depiction of women (ESPECIALLY a movie more or less about guys). I hesitate to even point to the gender of the filmmaker as a cause, because I thought she really got to the heart of the male characters as well and made some excellent points along the way. I guess what I'm trying to say is that Lynn Shelton is incredibly talented and insightful, and it's great to see a movie that poses the questions Humpday does being so well-received.

7: Special permission? I watched it (but almost missed it) on IFC but there was no "special permission" needed.
Congrats.
