So if they're "immortal", why is the contract only for a billion years?
2
Awwww, and we were just warming up U.I.! Good luck on future endeavors, and remember: the abuse doesn't lessen up, the form of it simply changes.
3
Eh. Sarah's a lot cuter anyway.

Seriously, good luck to you, Jon.

Meanwhile, Virginia's conservative attorney general is pressuring state schools' regents (called "boards of visitors" there) to "rescind policies that ban discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation"--probably in knee-jerk response to the issuing of marriage licenses to same-sex couples in DC and Maryland's recognition of same-sex marriages performed in other states.
5
"Applications will now offer a checkbox for sexual orientation."

Do they include bisexual....ie. I like men AND boys?

Happy Trails to you Jon Brock

Dear Unpaid Intern:

If it's on the front page of the NY Times Sunday edition (above the fold, no less), the allegations of Scientology's abuses are a bit stronger than "apparently".

It's OK: they don't have the money to sue like they did in the old days (and they're a bit backed up right now with an ever growing pile of lawsuits naming them as the defendant). It should be noted that your sister publication (PDX Merc) published a front page article on Scientology and... well, let's just that Dan Savage's weekly exhortations to be GGG have not ceased.

Respectfully yours,
-Bob

Dow Constantine is acting like a real elected leader! Wouldn't it be cool if we had a mayor like that?
And, Dow has Seattle's former budget director, one of the best in the nation, that McGinn pushed out.
Has anyone mentioned "recall" yet?

Not to pick nits, @7, but it was "below the fold" on my copy. Still, front page of the NYT is nothing to sneeze at.
10
I love tasty nits: above the fold on mine delivered here in 98101.

OK Go's tunes are pretty good, but their videos are eleven out of ten.
12
I love that video! Now you give me an excuse to watch it a fourth time. You couldn't have found a finer example of Internet swag. Great way to sign off.
13
Best o'everything, Jon. Thanks!
14
"OK Go thanks State Farm for making this video possible." Er?
15
Abusing your followers is just one of the steps necessary to become a "real" religion, so I'd say scientology is on the right track!
16
@8 have you signed up for your COBRA yet?
17
@11 +1.

i'm almost impressed enough to try and find out if they come up with the ideas, or are just really good at choosing directors and recognizing concepts. the videos are attention-grabbing, innovative, and actually fun.
18
That video is impressive. The chance of the glasses being chimed at the right moment (and other perfectly sync'ed events far later in the machine) seems impossibly low.

Good luck, Mr. Brock. I hope that next time you sign up for as much abuse you at least get paid.
19
Thanks for the scientology link, that was fascinating (don't read the NYT, so I was out of the loop). Good luck.

Please wait...
