the varsity theatre in the u-district has been showing the full list of animated and live action shorts for the last few years. i've been there every time. really enjoyed all of the animated flicks this year - all but one of the live action shorts focused on very big issues (slavery in india, chernobyl, murder - the only non-serious one was pretty much a swedish 'napoleon dynamite' type guy who's into being a magician.)
unfortunately i've heard a rumour that the varsity's lease is up at the end of the year and landmark isn't going to keep it...so who knows if any place in town will show the shorts programs next year.
i recommend all of the shorts that were nominated - all very well made - i would have had a very hard time judging between them all.

Seeing Randall's next door to Shoppers Drug Mart can really screw with the mind.
