The Reverend is an example of a real man marrying women.

Hey haters...lesbian and gay kids watching this on TV will get the message that this sort of thing is perfectly alright. That is good news. It is my fondest hope that this undermines any anti gay messages they get from their parents or church.
5
Hooray! Congratulations! And the Catholic Church can go to stick it in their arrogant, self righteous, anti-freedom, child molesting ass.
6
Congratulations are in order. I am very happy for them.
7
and Lovechild will be blowing up over two strong black women who are in love getting married in 5, 4, 3, 2.....
8
Wow! What a nice service, too. Their happiness, and the ministers enthusiasm made me tear up. Hooray for love!
9
Wishing Tina and Angel many happy years together!

10
And the non-resident haters seemed to display some microscopic level of dignity and not protest these ceremonies. Double cheers to that!
11
The world just got a little righter.

@11

lefter?
13
@12- Same difference.

The haters have already been writing to the WaPost's ombudsman, saying that showing pictures of two guys kissing is a mortal sin. Happily, the ombudsman told them to fuck off:

@7-- Loveschild is strangely late to the party. My guess is that she's getting to the bottom of her eighth can of Pringles right about now.

@14: Oh man, those are fabulous. Ward4DC is my favorite commenter because s/he clearly did not see the first couple to be married...
17
omg that totally made me tear up, and they looked so happy up there together. Congrats to Angel and Tina!

Watched the ceremonies live this morning. So wonderful. I am so happy for everyone in DC. We are winning.
19
Oh wow, I love that minister. He was obviously excited to be officiating. Its guys like him who make up for the religious nutjob bigots.
20
@16 Ward4DC is a famous religious bigot/homophobe in the Washington City Paper blogs. There are a few. Ignore them, most of DC is the most tolerant, progressive place you will find. These are the same people who get upset that I drive through their traffic clusterfuck of going to church on my way to Sunday brunch.

That is wonderful; I'm a straight woman living on the other side of the Pond, in a very different culture, and I'm moved to tears by this.

I hope that my goodwishes can cross the Atlantic and go with you in your future lives together...
22
The minister totally rocks !His officiating was so heartfelt, so loving,so makes-me-proud-to-be-a-Christian.

God Bless the new union, and many happy years together to the happy couple.
23
I was tearing up watching that. Many congratulations.

:-)

This owns. This is beautiful.

The fact that this brightens up my morning--and I'm speaking as someone who's already married--gives me some small insight into how significant and wonderful it must be not only for those who are getting married but who don't live in D.C. and who can look forward to being able to marry someone they love someday. It makes me happy to think that this will eventually reach across the country so that members of my family and my friends who are married to someone of the same sex will soon get the same rights that other married couples enjoy.
27
Please, allow me to add my congrats to the many happy, loving same-sex marriage couples.

Equality will prevail. Hate eventually dies. Even if only by the death of the person doing the hating.
28
This is cool, and I'm happy for them, and yet I can't imagine getting married at what almost seems like a press conference. That has to be distracting.

Please wait...
