Re David Cross: Where does this quote come from? (approximmately: "God must really love homosexuals, as he has called so many of them to his service." ) Thanks.

I'd be OK with Lindy writing the news everyday.

Whether or not the health care bill is a good bill is up to each of us to decide. Regardless, these facts are indisputable:
• It will add a trillion or more to the debt, making us a more of a debtor nation to China.
• It will allow government agencies and regulators to have more control over our lives.
• It will make the insurance industry less of an insurance industry. The profit insurance companies make is less than 5% now, it will be less under this bill. So look for some insurance companies to close up shop.
• Nearly half of all physicians are not on board. Many will leave medicine altogether.
• Angst over this bill is by no means exclusive to Republicans.
• The bill does hardly anything to address malpractice insurance rates.
If you like this, then start cheering. More than likely, it will get passed.

Dear World,
THERE WAS NO GENOCIDE IN TURKEY. WE WILL PROVE THIS BY CLEANING THE REMAINING ARMENIANS OUT OF TURKEY.
Sincerely,
The Turkish People

Does Turkey think this behavior will get them in the Eurpean Union?

@3 - In my profession, I work with executives at many of America's largest regional and national health insurance companies. Trust me when I say that these people have not been looking out for anyone's health, for a long time now. Some of the not-for-profit ones aren't bad, but the industry as a whole is practically a giant, remorseless leech. It is a shame that these companies closing would mean a bunch of decent people losing their jobs, but that does not make it a shame that the companies themselves close.

All the insurance companies should be shut down.

It is too bad for the employees but it is what's best for the nation.

Then we can hire new Federal employees to staff a new government entity to process the paperwork.
Federal employees who will be paid $70,000 a year (with lavish benefits) on average.
To replace insurance company clerks who were paid $28,000 a year.

It's what's best for the nation....

Also, in the meantime, all insurance company profits should be seized by the government.

Every last penny.

And that money applied to paying the nation's health care costs.

That would be Billions of dollars.

It would pay our nations health care costs for some time-

48 hours, to be exact.

@8,

And yet, those government employees administer Medicare for pennies on the dollar while those underpaid administrative assistants at insurance companies administer care for 15-30 cents on the dollar.

Does anyone know which one has to do with Texas? As in "Texans Lie to Their Children"?

@11 got it. I just figured "texas" would figure more prominently in the bold text.

Please wait...
