Eli:
If you are really preoccupied about getting into parties, and penning me-centered accounts of being there, you'll find a journalistic home at Publicola.
I hate to burst the bubble, but I'm not sure how much of a party it's going to be. I stuck with the PI - it was a respectable paper for years - and have diligently followed its evolution from big city daily paper to sad, desperate hit magnet.
SeattlePI.com was my web home page for a few years too, at least since Google's been up in the toolbar. But at some point, I got sick of LOLCats headlines and the lack of complex and interesting news analysis.
About three months ago, and perhaps much too late, I switched my home page to SLOG. I'm sure I wasn't the only person who went through this gradual transition "away from print."
@Pretty much, yeah. The PI is sliding in their needed quest for hits, and the Times is a joke most days with their Blethen-fueled poor-man's Fox routine.
I just keep Slog & Publicola feeds at the top of my Google home page.
