What do you mean "unable to identify the mother"? What would you have them do? Knock on every door? A lot of women are able to hide pregnancies and deliver their own babies. That said, someone likely knows who it might be. But what do you think the cops can do, take a DNA sample and figure it out?

C'mon, it _is_ Wales we're talkin' about here.

@2, i knew someone would say that.

My only question is how the hell you pronounce that city name. Welsh makes no sense to my tongue.

whenever this happens, the last paragraph is always the same; "Police are "extremely concerned" about the mother's health and urged her to come forward for medical assistance." and I always think "yeah, right."

@1 I believe the commentary was more on that the UK is notorious for capturing everything on camera, and how in a country that claims to monitor everything let a mother ditch her baby. I'd think of all the things putting cameras everywhere was meant to accomplish saving the life of a baby would pretty much be number one.

@5 I bet they are concerned with her health, because it's going to interfere with locking her in prison for the rest of her life. Also, unlike America, Europe values health.
