Pelz is far more entertaining as head of the State Dems than he ever was as a politician.
2
I'm not from your state, so I don't know, but can't your state legislature de-fund his effort to "ram this down the citizens throat" and "ignore the will of the people"?
3
Remember that time Jane Hague got a DUI and Dwight Pelz didn't have anyone running against her?

Not a fan.
4
So. Awesome.
5
@3: More entertaining. He's equally ineffective in any role.
6
How much is the document request going to cost the taxpayers? A little inappropriate, Dwight, we're arguing that McKenna's going to cost us a lot of money with this suit.
7
McKenna is a profound asshole who is doing something that is arguably defensible for all the wrong reasons, and the wackjob Repubs we have here are going to love him for it also for all the wrong reasons.
8
The anti-Mckenna fansite on facebook has WAY more fans than Mckenna's own...and half of 'em joined up today to publicly air their grievance at his actions.

If your interested, there is a way to formally complain with his office as well at:

What I want to know is, if we're so strapped for cash, and letting prisoners go due to lack of funds, and not challenging rulings due to lack of funds, where the HECK did he get the cash to spend on this?

Well?
10
The people of WA state voted overwhelmingly for Obama, who ran in part on Healthcare. That's all the polling anyone should need. What right does the AG have to try and stop the implementation of HCR on behalf of the people of WA?

Can this idiot be recalled?
11
@10: I am frankly surprised a recall movement hasn't already started. But I am frankly even more surprised that he doesn't understand that pissing off Seattle and the surrounding counties is political suicide, at least for a statewide office.
12
McKenna is a worthless piece of shit.

How did that guy carry King County last election? When he was on the King County Council he was a whore for the asphalt and building industry.
13
As a democrat who has voted for McKenna, I really can't believe he'd be so stupid to do this. To be fair, Republicans were probably drinking pretty heavily this weekend in anticipation of their loss, so maybe he'll sober up midweek and back down.
14
"impressively thorough needling" is the most accurate description of Dwight Pelz' style I've ever heard. Bravo.
15
This is a multi-party lawsuit with the Florida AG as the lead plaintiff. Washington's monetary contribution to the suit will be minimal.
16
Alright McKenna, I realize in supporting the lawsuit against against the Healthcare "Reform" Bill, you're just trying to position yourself to run as the Republic candidate for governor of Washington.

But couldn't you find a position more on top the Republican National Committees' Dick? Or would that require some form of elective surgery?

I can only hope this finally inspires the westside to vote you out of town on a rail.
17
All my sources say this was political suicide...he was looking very good going into 2012 so there may be time to recover but for now it's only going to get worse and go downhill from here. At least he will have teabaggers on his side in '12.
18
No no no no no. Don't underestimate any Republican, especially one who's not terribly stupid and McKenna isn't. Remember who won the Presidency twice? People voted for him again after he'd ALREADY demonstrated what an idiotic cruel dick he was. McKenna knows what he's doing; his constituents are cheering him on through all the Dems insulting him. I hope Inslee runs because he's probably the only one who can beat McK, especially in the even worse slump we'll be in then.

joykiller:
when he signs onto the suit, he had a duty to...you know...know what the fuck he's signing and shit? so doubtless there will be expense in meetings, conf. calls with the gop strategists, flying to florida for meetings and untold hours of assistant a.g.'s doing the scut work. your comment is stupid and naive, it assumes an a.g. can just sign pleadings in court and not prepare review or consult about them.

ANY lawsuit about constitutionality is less expensive than others, true because it's just briefing and not a trial or discovery, etc.

The "cost" to us is also the time and attention and loss of respect this idiot buys for the state because he's distracted with this political grandstanding bullshit. And the biggest cost would be if he wins the tea baggers then use that to undo social security.

There is no free lunch, and gummint workers should not waste their time, got it?

20
if you go to the Seattle Times and read comments on the stories about McKenna's lawsuit, you'll find a lot of commenters who support it. Fairly depressing. And a good reminder that Washington is a bit divided.
21
Speaking of McKenna-related fury, is none of the other staff at the Stranger going to call Dan on his behavior regarding McKenna's gender? I know he's your boss and all, but his behavior reflects pretty terribly on the rest of you.

You love exposing hypocrisy -- what ever happened to "outing is brutal and should be reserved for brutes"? McKenna's an ass, sure, but you don't make a convincing case that he's a brute.

Please wait...
