I've seen this on the sports blogs and it looked the ref threw out a player but blew the call - said player knocked over the opposing goalie and was tossed for charging, but the goalie had skated way out of the crease and it looked like the hit wasn't on purpose. Shoulda been two minutes in the box for goaltender interference at the most.
Am I alone in feeling this does not belong on SLOG? Maybe I'm just an a-hole but this wasn't even an unusual or interesting freakout clip. For hockey fans only.
@18 so I'm thinking maybe a Venn diagram where "Hockey fans" are in one circle and "SLOG readers" are in another circle, and they don't overlap at all?
Totally a blow call by the ref.
The defensive player's stick did more damage to the goalie than the player who was trying to avoid him but was forced into him by the defenseman's hook. Besides, goalies that go well beyond their crease like that aren't protected by special rules.
The ref was not only wrong, he was WAY wrong.
The coach was a little peeved and the ref compounded his errors by issuing yet another penalty to the coach when he objected to the blown call.
Perhaps he overreacted a tad, but he was right.
"I'm not getting outta the boat."
Thank you.
That was Timothy Busfield in....Striking Distance!
Which circle would this be in:

The latter, I'd think, is more along the lines of a discussion topic for Slog.
