I have totally done business breakfasts there. It had a fine corned beef hash, but yes, you are correct, the decor was garish.

I once got dinner there as payment for a lecture i gave at SU. I would have rather done the lecture for free.

Happy Hour was okay.

I work very close to there, and after my co-worker and I went there, I vowed to never go again. There are so many great places nearby I always wondered how they stayed in business. I guess, they didn't.

I saw the deconstruction on that corner the other day and thought, "Oh, that place is gone..." Couldn't remember what it was called, though. It looked too much like a cheesy/bad/overpriced hotel restaurant. Correct me if I'm wrong.

I went to Jimmy's by Safeco recently because, according to my research, they are one of the few (only?) places in town that makes a deep-fried Monte Cristo. No griddled, french toast half-assery -- full-on, battered and deep fried sandwich deliciousness.

Sadly, I left disappointed. I have a thing about Monte Cristos in that I only eat them *without* jam/preserves or powdered sugar. I like them to be a greasy, salty, assault of savory. But when I asked for a Monte Cristo without preserves inside, as it is served at Jimmy's, I was told this was impossible because the Monte Cristos are "pre-made." Guh.

Much like the hotel that sits on it - convenient, but overpriced. I had lunch there once around 2:30 or 3:00 PM and it was the epitome of mundane: kind of greasy, nothing special, and even the staff acted as if they'd rather I leave so they could go home.

The local neighborhood group tried to convince the developer during the design review process to make the restaurant open directly to the sidewalk - so that it participated more with the public area - rather than hunker down in a pit that could only be entered from the hotel, but to no avail. While the physical design of the space doesn't necessarily address the interior design nor the culinary quality or price, it certainly doesn't help.

Please wait...
