Perhaps the Stranger's editors should read the CHS blog. They reported on this a couple of days ago, with an interview with the owners as well.

it came down to finances and gaudy was the lowest of the three. based on what i was hearing from the other eateries in the group. its sad, i live right across the street and am going to miss that lil place, the buck and bleu are wonderful in their own right but the lil hole in the wall chain is down a link.

I enjoyed the cozy/kooky space(s) of CG, along with some of the food and the exceptionally outgoing staff. But I thought it was a little overpriced, and those handtowels-as-napkins bugged the hell out if me.

It's their own fault for calling it Chez Gaudy. I hate that name.
