Sounds like they don't want a Chihulhy Glass Museum.
2
@1 I was thinking the same thing. But I was also wondering what slimeball PR firm paid those teens to be there.

More Kid Stuff? WTF?!? I am sick to death of everything having to be for the kids or kid friendly. FUCK the damn little shits!! How about stuff for ADULTS to enjoy that isn't a fucking bar?!?!?

"Irwin Mainway: Yeah, well, look - you know, the average kid, he picks up, you know, broken glass anywhere, you know? The beach, the street, garbage cans, parking lots, all over the place in any big city. We're just packaging what the kids want! I mean, it's a creative toy, you know? If you hold this up, you know, you see colors, every color of the rainbow! I mean, it teaches him about light refraction, you know? Prisms, and that stuff! You know what I mean?"

How about an off-leash pit bull park?

So they're looking for spaces where they are viewed neither as menaces nor as potential consumers. I think that last point is especially important.
7
@5, how about getting their asses in school? (Seriously, what is it with all the damn kids running around in the middle of the weekday all year round?)
8
Sounds like they are actually learning something. These comments are more thoughtful and meaningful than what vast majority of kids are learning in this country.

I remember that reallisation when I was a teenager: there was nowhere I could just be without buying a hamburger or a movie ticket to justify my presence. Even in the park my activities were viewed with suspicion and the cops kicked everybody out at dark.

Of course, it's true for adults too, but once we can legally go to bars a lot of us stop noticing. Just don't be broke, or you're right back to being a suspect everywhere you go!

Those kids wished they lived in small town America.

You want to put 16 yr olds in charge?

Good luck with that.

"equal education opportunities"

I agree, the SPS spends more per student on kids on the Southside of Seattle than the Northside. Time the SPS spend equally on ALL students.

@5 - sounds good, so long as the shotgun-wielding skatepark is next door.

I'm kind of shocked by everyone laughing at kid's having an opinion and wanting a place to be safe and have fun without being eyed by police for being potential 'hooligans'. Granted, to keep an area safe for teens the police need to be around and active. A bit of grass, a couple of skating fixtures and a small playground for younger kids, in the *gasp* Seattle Center? No!

Please wait...
