"Monkeys have tales???" Jesus Fucking Christ, try reading what you post.
2
I like the typo, it's really philosophical. Even if it's unintentional.
3
Does anyone have a Firefox extension/Greasemonkey script that will just remove the last paragraph from Charles's posts? The incoherent bit seems to be pretty consistently at the end.

@1 clearly the man was engaging in symbolic wordplay.

also, i don't see a tail in this picture, but that doesn't mean it's not there. it could be artfully tucked into the seat of the pants, dropped down a pant leg, taped up around the torso, etc. i am not yet willing to rule out our president as a monkey.

Actually, with this post I am starting to realize that Charles just might possess the driest sense of humor on Slog. He's fucking with us. A little. Except when he's not.
6
I think Charles is a douche.
7
Hahaha. But along these same lines, though: is it just me, or is Twitter having a profound effect on world politics?

@5 - Matt --
Mudede is clearly the best at working his audience on Slog. Savage throws raw meat to the masses. Mudede serves chilled wine.

Good Morning Charles,
I don't have a problem with you calling out the racism that unfortunately is alive and broadcast via Twitter in Australia. Good to be vigilant.

But no, I don't believe Pres. Obama to be an ape or monkey with or w/o a tail/tale, your sarcasm notwithstanding. I'm merely having difficulty with the term "President of the planet". You aren't the first to use that moniker. "Leader of the Free World" annoyed me as well. Our President is neither even symbolically anymore. The POTUS doesn't always get what he wants globally (the IOC denied him and the venue choice, Chicago the 2016 Summer Olympic Games). There will be more disappointments to be sure. Happens in every Presidency.

The problem is I believe that America is on the whole in decline. And as a result, some expectations are so high that they would be impossible to meet with any President. Some problems are just intractable. We live a good country with or w/o Obama. But, for example I wouldn't have a problem with say, a Canadian believing he or she lives in the greatest country on earth, Canada and that the Queen (their head of state) is the leader of the world or something like that. My point is I don't like hyperbole in either case.

Our POTUS is a human being first like us. He is also an American and leader of the USA.

@9: You forgot that tiny bit about the doctrine of cultural and political imperialism as the "only superpower in the world" tack.

The most impressive thing about Obama in this picture is his tailor.

He actually knew how long to make the pants legs so there's a little break as they touch the shoe, and, I'm not sure, but it appears he may have cuffs...functional cuffs, the kind that make pants legs stay down.

When Obama died, George Washington met him at the Pearly Gates. He slapped him across the face and yelled, "How dare you try to destroy the nation I helped conceive?"

Patrick Henry approached, punched him in the nose and shouted, "You wanted to end our liberties but you failed."

James Madison followed, kicked him in the groin and said, "This is why I allowed our government to provide for the common defense!"

Thomas Jefferson was next, beat Obama with a long cane and snarled, "It was evil men like you who inspired me to write the Declaration of Independence ."

The beatings and thrashings continued as George Mason, James Monroe and 66 other early Americans unleashed their anger on the radical, socialist, leader.

As Obama lay bleeding and in pain, an Angel appeared. Obama wept and said, "This is not what you promised me."

The Angel replied, "I told you there would be 72 Virginians waiting for you in Heaven. What did you think I said?"

For any useful definition of monkey, humans are monkeys. We're also apes and primates and mammals, etc. Here's a biologist talking fast about it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4A-dMqEbS…

I'm an Obama fanatic, but I feel like there's a lot of reverse racism at play with some of the outrage over what people say about him. I've seen hundreds of pictures depicting George W Bush as a chimpanzee but if anyone refers to Obama as being monkey-esque we're quick to call racism on it rather than interpret it to mean that they think he's an idiot. I understand the history behind why it's taboo, but I feel like we'll have truly transcended our race issues when we can freely criticize a black president the way we did a white one.
15
Good one Charles. thanks
16
Charles, you have made my day less horrible. Thank you.
17
At least the Aussies expelled him.

Here they get ten times the fundraising from their cronies in the Racist South.
19
Yep, we're all apes, to be more specific, great apes.
20
Charles,
Speaking of race, I find it an odd coincidence that these two Americans passed away the same week:

&

Daryl Gates & Benjamin Hooks RIP

@14 We can transcend our race problems when we all stop having impressionable/stoopid kids.

P.S. Bush was an awful idiot warmonger, and Obama's a total 'suave' creep, but I like him enough! Neither of them are as consistent or trustworthy as a coot! (or whatever animal you like best)
22
@12 *sad trombone and a fart noise*

Australia is weirdly racist... the kindest Australians usually don't "get it" because they've had such limited exposure to other races. It's hard to describe, but racism here feels so empty (except when it is directed towards aboriginals) because it's all white folks interacting with other white folks 99% of the time anyway.

The aboriginal issue is also weirdly treated simply due to a serious lack of coverage until recently. It's going to be a couple of generations before people start to have some sort of comprehension about race at all.
24
I resemble that remark...
25
If monkeys are defined as a monophyletic group, then humans are included. If you define them as a paraphyletic group (as most people do), then no, humans aren't moneys.

But there's no question that humans are apes.

Please wait...
