'How knew'?
2
What an anachronism these people are. Never forward, always backward.
3
you know? it seems to me that this business of "the pope can't be prosecuted because he is a head of state..." well, i am sure even (especially) most hotheaded conservative dicks would concur...the vatican is a state? fine. and what would we logically do to a "state" that has infiltrated our shores with mad child rapists that the "state" protects and fosters? WE'D INVADE and/or NUKE the bastards. right? right.

get to it.

yet another anticatholic diatribe from the man who is never home, so he can screw latino undergrads and talk about how great feltching is.

your bigotry is no different than homophobia.

Dan, you continue to dissapoint. Go spend some time with your kid. Your not home enough to be wasting time on SLOG.
5
or we could just nuke ecce homo. i'd be okay with that, too. (ecce sounds like a bitter housewife. ecce, how the hell do you know how often he's home? are you the fucking MAID? watch out! immigration!)
6
Whose not home enough to be wasting time on SLOG?

I worked with some of the nuns when I was in college out that way, they were pretty awesome. We did retreats with them, and a couple other events, including baking these awesome gingerbread men every Christmas.

The prior Bishop wasn't much better than Brandt. And I find it strange that there was such an outcry from nuns across the country in support of Healthcare Reform, but we didn't hear much one way or the other from Monks/Friars/Brothers.
8
Yeah, I'm kind of confused by Ecce Homo, too. You seem to fixate on the fact that Dan is never home and never spends any time with his kid. How do you know this? I'm totally serious, how the hell do you know how Dan spends his time? When I think about it, the only way I can figure it is that you spend an inordinate amount of time keeping tabs on Dan's location. So, your constant harping has led me to the conclusion that you are either a liar or a stalker, so... way to get your point across? Or something?
9
I totally agree with you Ecce Homo
10
Why can't the nice, decent clergy be the ones calling the shots? It seems like corrupt, irresponsible jackasses always seem to run the show, like Chicago politics.

@4: My take on your opinion: http://sp6.fotolog.com/photo/54/24/75/te…
@9: O RLY? Well, then, I am very disappoint, hugop007. (It's about all I can do to not call you hugopoot.)
11
I find it remarkably ironic that someone named "Ecce Homo" is defending Christianity in any of its iterations. Nietzsche spins in his grave.

I am awed and simultaneously ashamed of the mental gymnastics a Vatican-apologist is capable of to defend rape of the young--between a red-herring and ad hominem. It is people like you who refuse to address the actual issue of rape, throwing up blinds and smoke and attempting to behead the messenger.

12
@4

Criticizing the Catholic Church means you're Anti-Catholic? Oh that's right, in the Catholic Universe it does.
13
@12 - no, it means *YOUR* anticatholic.

And thank you to @6, who's comment made me LOL.
14
I wonder how far the Catholic Church would have to go to lose tax-exempt status in America. Obviously direct participation in politics is not enough. Maybe they could stage a coup?
15
ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ

just generalized catholic shit is boring, boring, boring

who cares? and we all know the priests fuck the nuns, duh

the abuse of kids for centuries is a story - get on the news beat kids
16
Nietzsche abhored prejudice in all of it's forms.

Dan posts every week from a different airport and openly proud of how often he is away from home, engaging in blowing up his own ego.

he's selfish and his "son" will pay the price.
17
The only way this will come to an end is if we start arresting Catholics as they leave church on Sunday morning as accessories after-the-fact. It is this plain: if you attend Catholic church, you are condoning child rape as though you were the rapist. Arrest them, try them, convict them and put them in jail. End the cycle, once and for all. They have the choice to attend church, and they can vote their superior morality with their feet.
18
oh, and lest any misunderstand, the children of absentee parents are at higher risk for substance abuse and alcholism, going to jail for petty crimes, and an inability to form strong relationships.

that's thes price I am referring to and is a pretty steep one to pay so that dan can hang out in antlanta, fargo, or amarillo discussing the various merits of pegging or pony play.
19
Aw gee, dissapointing (sic) you, Ecce Homo is like disappointing a very small, yappy rat-dog, that is, not very much, if at all.

@3:

Wasn't Saddam Hussein also a head-of-state when we invaded Iraq for no good reason whatsoever? Seems to me all we need to do is come up with some similarly flimsy pretext (although, now that I think on it, charging him with conspiracy to cover up decades of child-rape perpetuated by his clergy is a hell of a lot more substantial than anything we had on old walrus-face), declare Ratzy a war criminal, rendition him to a nice Northern European holding cell, and then sick the German Shepherds on his lying, homophobic Pontification.
20
EH, why so jealous? Do you wish YOU could hang out in airports? Maybe use the Men's room? Maybe do a little foot-tapping action while you're in there?

Seriously, you have a very twisted concept of "absentee parent". IME, that's one who doesn't come home at the end of an out-of-town business trip. Or do you lump every parent who travels on business (which is what Dan does - because, you know, he earns a good portion of his living do it) in the same grossly over-generalized pigeon-hole?

Really, you should have stayed in Steilacoom - I imagine you were probably a lot happier in there amongst your own kind.
21
The nuns should just start their own church already.
22
A Reformation of nuns. What a great idea.
23
@22

The castle anthrax?
24
Attack the Messenger. Obfuscate. Obfuscate. Straw man, straw man. Personal attack, insult. Criminals, rapists, torturers should all run free because only a perfect & faultless person could ever prosecute them.

Personal attack, insult. Obfuscate. Muddy the issue. Attack the messenger, attack the messenger. Straw man, straw man. Insult.

Repeat as necessary.

26
@25 not to mention paying off the victims of child rape so they keep quiet.

Very important work you guys.
27
@4: Yes, because we all know that child rape is a natural and perfectly healthy part of being born genetically Catholic. Those poor priests and bishops can't help it; they were born with those collars around their necks, and violent predatory sexual abuse just comes with the territory.

Dolt.
28
@ 13.
AAAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAA
AAhahahah
HAHAHAHAHAHAahahahaAHA!

no.
29
EH,

For someone who's entire line of commentary has, from Day One, consisted of nothing but personal attacks, you don't REALLY think anybody is going to worry one iota about attacks to YOUR person, now do you?

'Cause if you DO, then I'd be more than happy to add "latent paranoia" to your ever-growing list of exhibited personality disorders...
30
@28 - I kinda felt like their would be no point if I had to explain. You're comment made me think maybe I should have. Oh well, I guess we'll just have to leave it they're.

Please wait...
