Thank you brave Americans bringing this issue to the forefront once again. I believe him. I recently rewatched the election coverage to reinstate my patriotism, and I'm so glad that I did...

"IT's time for equality for all Americans!" another protester yelled at 9:22. Obama said, "can I just say again Barbara and I are supportive of repealing Don't ask dont tell." But protester keeps yelling. Bringing Obama's remarks to a halt. The crowd responds again by "shouting yes we can!" over the protesters.
sounds like the basic way for a politician to deal with hecklers at a speech. he's stalling, everyone knows he's stalling, he knows that everyone knows he's stalling. why's he stalling?
@9
My bet is, he is waiting to repel DADT till just before the nov. election or afterwards.
Before the election if he thinks it will stir up more votes for at risk Dems up for election
or after the election so he doesn't put at risk Dems in more hot water than they are now.
He's playing a keen game of politics right now and he'll do whatever it takes to keep his people in power. It's all about cost versus benefit. DADT will be repelled when it has the lowest cost for dems to do so, and the highest benefit for them to do so. It's an unfortunate reality, as far as I can tell.
I'm a 27 year old San Francisco gay boy. I've never skipped a federal election, but this will be the first time if Boxer doesn't start getting serious. It's no longer enough for her to personally support equality if the White House under cuts the agenda. And after Tony West and the DOJ pulled that bull shit last week, it's no longer acceptable for Barney Frank to be the only one holding Obama accountable for his promises. The enthusiasm gap is real in California people. If Babs doesn't start hitting harder, you may all witness California vote out it's Democratic senator the same year it legalizes pot!
I met the "Get Equal" guy at a party in SF last year. They don't seem to understand anything about how legislation gets passed.
More pressure is always good, but I sure don't have confidence in their leadership, nor do i find the abstract notion of equality to be particularly capable of dealing with intersectional movement-building.
You know, I find it disrespectful when the Joe Wilsons of the world heckle our President during a speech, and I certainly feel the same way when it's done by one of my own.
@17 When I came out and joined the others demanding equal rights, shortly after Stonewall, even "admitting" to be gay was considered to be in extremely bad taste. Sometimes you just gotta do what you gotta do.
@17 There's a difference between expected and respected behavior between an elected politician and a private individual in this country, as it relates to political speech. Screaming 'you lie' during an internationally televised state of the union address FROM the Congressional floor. We've always been vocal TO our politicians and it's expected. Politicians jeering other politicians hasn't caught on here all these years (but it's commonplace in Britain, if you've ever watched a rowdy session of Parliament on TV).
Obama thinks he has GLBT voters captive. Notice he taunts them about voting for the Repubs. He doesn't understand that Ron Paul is a real supporter. Marriage as a contract can NOT exclude same-sex marriage. Period. Obama is a bigot when it comes to GLBT equality. He doesn't support constitutional equality for gays. Period. I will not be heald hostage.

little bit differnt than the president war criminal era.

Fine don't vote but then don't complain when gay rights are rolled back even further with the GOP in office.

Sorry, but this was just done in very bad taste.
