The article called Dan a "Journalist".
Were they being ironic?
Are you going to demand a retraction, Dan?
2
"polygamy, incest and "man on dog" sex"-

did the Obama Justice Department plagiarize Santorum when they defended DADT?
3
When is Rick Santorum gonna come out already?
4
Santorum should have stuck to comparing homosexuality to penguin on penguin sex.
5
Awesome.
6
They always attack the interviewer first. A college journalist recently caught Mike Huckabee making a similar anti-marriage argument, and Huckabee responded by saying the student "grossly distort[ed] my views."

So the student released the full audio. A hard-hitting interview, but the guy was quoted accurately. Bet it's the same case with Santorum.
7
I demand a refraction!
8
Doorknob Danny, you can't post enough about Santorum, or obese women, or youth pastors, or pitbulls.
9
Sheesh he holds a grudge.
10
@9: I know, right?
11
I DEMAND a little more Orange Juice please. My Grand Slam is making me a trifle parched.
12
Did you catch this bit the reporter snuck in at the end of the piece?
If he ultimately does enter the race, according to Rothenberg, he won't be able to get by on name recognition. Whether he can make a splash will depend in large part on whether he can find his niche once the primary field takes shape.
13
Haha, I can't believe losing miserably in a state Senate race is now considered a sign you might have a chance at the presidency.

But then again, the media now treats quitting halfway through a gubernatorial term as a sign you might have a chance at the presidency, so maybe I shouldn't be surprised...
14
i like his move in thinking though. if social conservatives move toward publicly tolerating and legalizing gay marriage while privately holding their own negative opinions (and suppressing urges), that would be a start, at least. and it's consistent with the "hands-off" governing that republicans claim to be all about. similarly, they could accept the legalization of marijuana while privately refusing to smoke, allow abortion but privately choose life, etc....impossible or inevitable?
15
Patti wins hands down.
16
*Still laughing*
17
Oohh, I started reading this article & before I got past the first sentence, I thought was "haha, Dan's replaced the bad politician's surname with a dirty word".
18
"...if the court created a right that sexual activity was all based on consent, then consent can be consent to do anything."

OH NOES!

I think ol' Rick still doesn't get it.
19
Dan, what about the versions done by Bette Midler and Sharon Gless?

You call yourself a queen. HAH!
20
Consent to do anything?

Like, sell your daughters into sexual slavery, visit prostitutes, kill people who preach religions (or non-religions) other than Judaism, chop girls up into 12 pieces and send each piece to a different tribe, kill your children for back-talking, that sort of thing?

21
Oh goody, a return to the politics of division and hate. Right up the Tea Party's alley.

13
"the media now treats quitting halfway through a gubernatorial term as a sign you might have a chance at the presidency"

yeah.
what's with that?
so lame....

don't they know you are supposed to get elected to the Senate, then only one third of the way into your freshman term announce you're running for President and spend the rest of your term running for another office and THEN quit half way thru your term....

"I have no problem from a public policy point of view with homosexuality."

What the hell does that mean? It sure sounds like "I'm willing to let people admit that homos exist." If he doesn't follow up with "I think all people should be treated equally" then what the hell is he saying, and why does any reporter accepting a paycheck not follow up with the obvious question?
25
I love it when Dan uses showtunes.

@19: It was Tyne Daly, not Sharon Gless. And you left off Ethel Merman, Annie Ross, Rosalind Russell/Lisa Kirk, Joyce Blair, Libby Morris...
26
@23: Nice Beaker impression.

"I have no problem from a public policy point of view with homosexuality." When asked about his personal feelings on the subject, Santorum said, "I have personal feelings on a lot of things." He added that people have a right to do what they want in the privacy of their own home. "There are things that people do that I think are good, there are things that are bad, that really doesn't matter much," he stated.

I sometimes wonder just how bright Santorum is. He's either trying to pull a Dick Cheney -- SOUNDING supportive but not really meaning it when it comes to legal recognition -- OR he just doesn't understand.

There is one other possibility. He has completely reversed himself and is now neutral on issues like civil unions, SSM, and Lawrence v. Texas. Yeah, right.

28
...Santorum said he was hurt by the reaction to his comments and insisted he had been mischaracterized.

What the writer apparently can't say is that Rick wasn't emotionally hurt, but politically hurt. Clearly the ensuing firestorm that Dan flamed has had its intended effect: keeping him from being such a frothy turd when it comes to homosexuals.

Also, can't we start mocking him as being a believer in Intelligent Design as well? That seems almost equally worthy of ridicule, in my opinion.

Thanks for the reminder to visit the site occasionally to make sure the Santorum definition remains #1 - that subtle click through remains soothing and habit forming.... ah, there it is.
