I can't imagine that anyone who pays attention to the news and is even slightly informed can possibly blame Obama for the mess. You can't undo eight years' worth of bilking the American people in just one, especially when you're working against the tide to do so.

As it is, didn't Obama want to inject even more money into the economy to halt the recession, only to find the GOP digging in their heels the whole way, causing that stimulus to be much lower (and less effective)?

Exactly #1. Are there any NEW economic problems I wasn't aware of?
3
That's because everyone - not just in America but overseas - knows that it definitely was Bush's fault, and we - for the most part - are proud of our President for steering the ship of state away from the icebergs that Bush had us set directly for.

Now, get some jail terms and confiscate some mansions and yachts and trust funds from the bankers who helped him and we can move on.

(caveat - this includes my brother, an uncle, and a cousin - who work in M&A and hedge funds)

Polling on this question is dumbing down our democracy. This is like asking "Who is more dangerous to heterosexual people's children, Rachel Maddow or Dan Savage?" The very question presupposes a situation that does not exist.

The president is not responsible for the economy. President Bush's cabinet and advisers and the neo-con think tanks are all in partially responsible for the fuckup of the last decade. The evangelical megachurches and news media also has a part as do the liberals who let it all happen.

Simply summing up which president, current or former, is to blame really points the issue away from what will really help us.
5
More like Reagan, Bush, Clinton, Bush should be the answer. And Obama is steering us into further debt and an even bigger collapse. He'll be to blame at some point, just not yet.
6
Bush fixed Clinton's mess in 5 months.

Obama is still reading the manual.

@6 - wow, I didn't realize the THC concentration was THAT high where you live.

Do you have any facts to dispute?

Or are you just breathing the ozone from LINK's brake pads?

9
@6: You mean the mess of a balanced budget or the mess of a high standing in the world? Yep, your boy fixed that right quick, no doubt about it.
10
You girls are missing a key point:

Bush will not be on the ballot in 2012.

Obama will.
11

Look, you have to define what fixing a mess means.

Bush created jobs out of the mess that Clinton left.

No matter what you say, the middle class did quite well and people weren't starving.

However, as soon as Obama took office it all fell apart.

His response? Shovel 2 Trillion of our tax money to his cronies.

Then create Welfare for Doctors.

Who's the crook? Check Blue for Democrat.

Shrub may not be on the ballot @10, but the party that pushed him into the White House WILL be...

@10: I love how you call everybody who disagrees with you 'girls.' I guess it shows your opinion of women.

@11: Unemployment rate January 1993: 7.3 (Clinton takes office.)
Unemployment rate December 2000: 3.7 (Clinton leaves office.)

Unemployment rate January 2000: 4.7 (Bush takes office)
Unemployment rate December 2008: 7.1 (Bush leaves office.)

so honey were Bush and Clinton both President from Jan 2000 to Dec 2000? and with Monica squatting under the desk sucking Billie the Oval Office must have been pretty crowded....
15
12
yep-
on the ballot and picking up Lots of Seats,
thank you.....
16
@15: Don't hatchet your counts before they chicken.
17
Wow, the trolls are out in full force. I guess that happens when you compare 8 years of peace and prosperity under Clinton to 8 years of war and collapse under Bush. Let's face it, if the current economy is Obama's fault, then Bush has to answer for 9/11. Remember, trolls, Bush had been president for months by then?? These kinds of polls make me loathe Republicans even more (as if that's possible).
18
17 now don't sell yourself short you enlightened liberals have shown you're capable of unlimited hate...
19
@17 - PEACE AND PROSPERITY!? Oh I didn't realize we had it so good. I'm sure that hyperbole is the way to help this situation.

Please wait...
