I think Obama should put more weight behind an inclusive ENDA, personally.
2
Gawd Dan why do you let Obama dick you over like this-
he is just a pussy- stand up for yourself, for crying out loud....
3
Obama said "This year, I will work with Congress and our military to finally repeal the law…” -- he did NOT say, "I will work with Congress and our military to finally repeal the law this year…”

Big difference. He's beginning the work this year, leading to an ultimate end of the ban.

And HRC sucks ass.

This is an issue that taps into visceral bigotry and the opposition will fight much stronger to oppose Obama if he makes changes like this. Is this really the issue worth drawing the line in the sand over?

It needs to be done and done now but this is politics. You have to have a coherent strategy if you ever want to accomplish anything.
6
Dan, it's the same as with Guantanamo and getting out of Iraq. Make a loud lurch towards action and then hide behind 'political reality' and hope people get distracted by something shiny.
7
HRC raises shitloads of money in Seattle from gullible gays and lesbians with deep pockets.

The sky is blue when the sun is out. That is probably the biggest truism ever to leave your mouth.
8
Lambda Legal is the most effective gay rights organization in the country, and deserves our ca$h far more than accomplishment-free and Republican-collaborating HRC.
9
Get Equal is keeping the pressure on.

That is the way forward.

Obama made promises and now we have to force him to keep those promises.
10
This absolutely sucks. I was so excited when I heard him make that promise: Once DADT is repealed, it should only be a few years until gay marriage is federally legalized. Why? Because the repeal of DADT will then openly raise the point that we have gay service members with partners and children who are not allowed the same spousal and family benefits of straight members, although they're putting themselves in the same line of fire. Gay marriage would have to be federally recognized to allow these soldiers the same benefits and rights due to them.

As it stands, DADT is hiding more than people's sexual orientation. It's harming the families of gay American soldiers. This needs to be repealed, so we can move forward with equal rights.

@8 You beat me to mentioning Lambda Legal. They do an enormous amount of good for us, and are recipients (along with the ACLU) of a monthly contribution from me.
12
Fuck. I hate HRC more and more each day.
13
Doh!

@4,7,12, Why does every hate Hillary Rodham Clinton?

@4,7,12, Why does everyone hate Hillary Rodham Clinton?

Please look at www.veteranslobbyday.org . This is an event On May 10-11th that HRC is a key figure that is pushing for repeat THIS year. HRC isn't just sitting around waiting.
