"Right, see, he has all the Karate Kid films and when we're having relations -- which we do nightly, sometimes multiple times -- he's always 'sweeping the leg', so to speak."
He was just paying for entry so he could minister to the poor, misguided men. If he happened to get his luggage lifted, well, that happens sometimes. If you hang around in a barber shop long enough, you are going to get a haircut!
And the gay men in Malawi just got handed a 14 year prison sentence. "The judge says he applied the maximum sentence because he wanted to scare the community off following the couple's example."
I don't think they all understand that in 14 years, after serving their time if they live through it, that they will STILL be gay. This isn't just a gay issue, it's an international tragedy.
At least Australia has the Greens, and yes their marriage equality bill got shot down, but they have the balls to refuse to accept defeat. I wish we had a US party equivalent.
And, I'm so sorry to hear that the couple in Malawi are being treated so in humanely. The injustice makes my blood boil.
I'm a little confused about this--are his superiors pretending that their outrage stems from the fact that he uses his minsterial car on personal errands? Because then I can only assume that they apply this outrage equally to government ministers who use their taxpayer-funded cars to run to the grocery store or pick their kids up from ballet class. Or is every other minister scrupulous in his car use?
Hey, why does it often end up being like, taxpayer-funded? Or donor-funded? Or church-funded?
Like is there some sort of problem with simply paying for your own gay lifestyle? That's what everyone else does. Why do they often like to do it on other people's dime?
For heaven's sake, "family man" does not mean the same thing as "family values." He sent out Christmas cards with his wife and kids on them.
He may well be a lousy husband and father, but where's there any indication that he's an anti-gay politician? There isn't any in any of the news stories about it and he's a member of the Labor Party that just passed legislation for registered partnerships.
David Campbell is NOT a 'Family Values' politician.
The Australian Labor Party is the centre-left party in the country and was the party in government when homosexuality was decriminalised in NSW and it was one of the first governments in the world to support needle exchanges. They also pushed through the legislation to open the country's first legal heroin injection facility.
David Campbell is a man from a semi-rural area in the state who married at the age of 19 (almost 35 years ago) in what I suspect was an attempt to avoid having to be gay. His sexuality has supposedly been an open secret within the government for some time.
The more interesting fact is how did the Television station know to stake out the sauna?
It would seem that the 'journalist' in question used to work in the offices of the former state leader of the Labor Party where Mr Campbell's sexuality was known.
It looks to me like that this was all done in order for the 'journalist' to get a scoop.
And the ministerial car was his to use for all private and professional purposes.
Ken's at Kensington is pretty good. I had no idea it used to be called KKK, which is pretty funny (only in Australia would someone competent enough to run a business not actually make that connection. We are a special bunch.)
I don't get why he's resigning. He's (presumably) part of the Labor party, who are pro-gay-rights. Okay, yes, he is married, and this is a little odd. But he's not a rabid conservative. In fact he just instituted the first price drop in our public transport system since... well, forever, I think, as well as unifying all the private and public networks under a single system. Overall, transport is one of the few things the Labor government is finally doing right.

"Leave Brimley alone!!!!!111!1!!"
More Aussie news. I don't care if you're gay, just don't tell me or anyone else.
