Jesus dude! You have no connection to reality. I don't even believe in god but to say we're as good as him because we took something that "he created" and added something we made to it is just fucking stupid. That's like saying I built my house because I painted it. As for the oil, I'll paraphrase Hunter S. Thompson "God didn't do that, [BP] did it. [They]'re a fucking narcotics agent"
@1 Yeah I think you were a little too eager to start the "let's hate on Charles" game (which was cute at first but is just starting to get silly now) and missed the point of the post entirely. I doubt that Charles is making comments about God so much as he's asking a question. Once we've developed the technology to create synthetic life, will these kinds of disasters continue to have as much consequence as they do now?
Mudede is easier to understand when you interpret his posts as thought exercises as opposed to literal interpretations of events.
That said, this post wasn't really all that hard to understand. We are quickly approaching the point where we will be able to recreate many of the works attributed to nature, but with this power comes the immense capacity for destruction, whether intentional (like atomic weaponry) or unintentional (like the BP oil spill).
the 1st power is new, but the 2nd is what we've always been able to do: kill.
