"the plan is for something "beer-centric" and "completely different than anything in the neighborhood right now" in an alternate reality where the Elysian has never been opened, and has not existed for the last 10+ years, like something in the television series Lost.

That's another Mike Malone building - he's the fellow who could be much worse for such a big Republican donor - made so much off selling AEI/Muzak that for a hobby he owns the building Elliott Bay moved into, the Sorrento Hotel where Elliott Bay's gotten to use the empty penthouse for readings and in whose empty lobby Christopher holds his "come read in poshness" salons, the Coho next to NWFF where artists could afford to live before he bought it, and the brand new giganto-apartment block on the west side of Cal Anderson. Among others.

He's your two-block-radius buddy.

Just what we need.

How will it be different from the Elysian?

@1/4:

And don't forget Six Arms just a few blocks downhill.

Maybe this place will distinguish itself from the other completely different brewpubs in the neighborhood by NOT serving French Fries & burgers & bar snacks. Or something.

@1,4,5: If the supremely talented Holly Smith is truly involved and attaching her name to it be assured you won't see the standard "French Fries & burgers & bar snacks."
7
I heard that New Belgium was planning a brewpub on Capitol Hill, could this be it? If so, and no offense to Elysian and McMenamin's, but YUM.
8
@5 Do they brew at Six Arms? I've been there only once. I don't remember.

@6 Thanks. I was really asking, not trying to be facetious.
9
@8: Yes, they brew at Six Arms, though the Elysian's brews taste a hell of a lot better.
10
@7: New Belgium already has a partnership with Elysian. I believe that New Belgium brews beers on the Elysian equipment. I doubt they are opening a competing establishment.

Please wait...
