Not so good. But she still scares the brownies out of me.
2
I pray to god that she wins the nomination. Comedy fucking gold. And a mirror reflection of Reagan's 1984 win.
3
I'm with Rotten. I *dream* of her running against Obama. Please, please, please. The final nail in the coffin of conservatism, win or lose on their side.

The graph on the Atlantic which you linked to is different form the graph on the original post which is on politico (http://www.politico.com/blogs/bensmith/0…).

I'll never understand the appeal to this person. Is "middle" America really that ignorant or is this just the the media blowing a small following out of proportion?

ok, look guys. i am also incredibly amused by the concept of a palin run against obama, but what if something really terrible happened right before the vote. with obama's approval ratings how they are.... i just think it's too much of a risk.

on the other hand, good watching...

Dan's daily dose of Palin
7
... Um, the important question is if does run, will Tina Fey come back for an extended visit on SNL? Please?
8
* not so WELL.
9
eh, that should have been '....if she does run'. Bleh, I need more coffee. And less processed cheese. Seriously it just ruins a nice egg burrito.

The question is - if Sarah runs - who is her Dick Cheney? She doesn't seem to have any attachment to the Republican elites (i.e. the big donors, who will be backing Romney). If anything she's like a crazy third party who doesn't have any real platform other than 'pull my string' talking points that contradict themselves.

How would she get any legislation passed? She seems utterly incapable as a politician as her short time in Alaska illustrates. Even if the Republicans controlled both houses again (unlikely) there is no way they would go for any of her bat shit crazy ideas - the bully pulpit for her would be a liability - not an asset. She doesn't seem to surround herself with good advisers, let alone ones with the kind of political savvy of Cheney & Rove. Even as president she would be mostly harmless.

I'm confused about one part:

"And that 38 percent is so devoted - from former gay men still devastated by losing one diva (Clinton) to, well:"

I wasn't aware Palin had a gay fan base, and that line makes it sound like all these queens lining up to support Palin because they love her shoes.

Just out of curiosity, has anybody ever done a PhotoShop mock-up of Palin as Evita?? Anybody know where to find such an image? She's moved passed the US Flag bikini with Shot Gun status, to a whole new level of devout followers and string pull-ers, making for some interesting parallels.

She needs to run against Obama, Its a win - win situation. If he lost to her we would finally have the nail in the coffin of America, and that would probably have mostly positive long term effects.

That said I sure hope my super power kick in and get me the hell out of here before that happens.

The crazy hatey thing has worked out just fine for her. She is rich now. She will always be famous and she is adored by millions of people.

She will never be President, but if you asked her when she was a small town Mayor or Governor of a medium sized town whether she would rather be President or rich, famous and adored by millions, it is pretty clear which she would have chosen. She is living the dream.
16
If she does run, please someone replace her Tina Fey when she wins - in the style of Dave.

Yeah - when she wins. Sorry, but I do not have much trust in you as a people.

From the CBS News article Sullivan links:

"Think of how many volunteers she'll have--just imagine that," says [some Palin fan], who expects to be one of them. "We might not be that competent or qualified or that smart, who knows, but we will work our butts off for her."

Awesome.

Like a couple of other commenters, I'm torn. On the one hand, I can't see Palin beating Obama - not because he's exceptionally gifted as a politician, but because she's so exceptionally flawed, and her flaws play perfectly into his strenghths. Remember the debates in '08; Obama was judged to have won because he came across as measured and rational while McCain looked angry and hotheaded. Now imagine that dynamic to the power million and you have the potential Obama-Palin matchup.

On the other hand... I can't shake the feeling that something appalling and presidency-destroying could happen in the next two years, like Katrina-esque catastrophe (the BP oil spill ain't it, however hard the right-wing media try to make it so), or the economy turning even further to shit, or Afghanistan blowing up, or something totally unpredictable. Then, all bets are off. If that's the case, then we won't be laughing quite as hard.

Meanwhile, there is this distressing news: http://theweek.com/article/index/203636/…

*Never* under-estimate the power of 38% of the country, especially if you're a liberal. All the talk of her running for POTUS creeps me out. Why? Because of the election/selection of Bush/Cheney in 2000 and the REELECTION of that evil pair in 2004.
How soon we forget and get all fucking cocky, just like we did in 2000- "we've turned a corner", "we could never elect a dummy like W", "Gore's a shew-in". Wake up folks- this is America, and if we elected one court jester for 2 terms, we can sure blast an intelligent, moderately-competent president like Obama out of the saddle for an air-headed moron.
21
Palin may pretend she wants to run for president. Hell, she may actually *want* to run. But she would never in a million years want to *be* president. That would ruin far too good a thing for her; getting paid millions to be adored.

If she gets the nomination, she'll just continue to court her fan base and to hell with the rest of the country or enough votes to win.

It's Achey-Breaky, Dan.

Do I have to do everything?

Please wait...
