The biggest wiener will be on top! (Wait that's what I said last night)

Actually, since one is a promo I don't think it really matters. Now if BECU is out there every day handing out free wieners....
2
Seriously? It's one day. If it matters so much to you, don't take one- Patronize the hot dog vendor instead. duh.
3
The other guy could give his away, too. Nothing's stopping him.

How do we know BECU didn't pay (or at least offer) the vendor to provide the hot dogs?
6
This happened before the march at a Sounders game a while back. There is this guy in Occidental Park who I always grab a dog from and I gotta think that the Sounders games are some of his bigger days since the Sounders games are the only ones that bring a good crowd to Occidental. Well I think the team decided to give away dogs for some reason and had like 4 carts set up handing them out while this guy got almost no business. I grabbed on from him because I hate waiting in line and wanted to support him.

You think the Sounders and BECU could have involved these guys in the promotion. Pay them what they would have made and then let them give out free dogs too.

@3 true capitalism at its finest! a race to the bottom!

this is one of the more heavily trafficked pedestrian corridors near the BECU in south lake.

btw, it's illegal to sell food on parks property.
9
I think the person that sent that in should get a vibrator and just let all of that pent-up tension go.
10
@8 Ya and you the consumer wins. This is part of the healthy balance between business and customers.
11
MMM.

Free hotdogs.

Yum.
12
@8 giving them away isn't selling them.
13
I'll take a weiner wherever I can get it...
14
@ 12
directly across from a hotdog vendor who is making a living in the park.
the tipper said the hot dog vendor was 'making a living' in the park (e.g. selling food) which happens to be illegal.

Hah! I feel oddly well-placed to comment on this, given my hot dog consumption level and roommate who runs Dante's InfernoDogs (tm?).

I eat at Dog in the Park (the WLC stall) probably weekly. My bike club meets up there weekly and we love them. The tofu kielbasa with grilled cabbage? Amazing. They won't hurt for business from one missed lunch on a half-nice wednesday. Hell, if you were going out just for one of theirs, I bet you'd have bought one anyway given the quality difference (free hotdog = basic bun, basic dog, free ketchup).

Also, giffy (we'll stay anonymous here!): the Sounders gave away hotdogs for the home opener. It probably did hurt the cart that is usually there, but I bet the bar crowd after the match covered him. He's there for the 2am crowd on weekends, SSFC is a bonus. As well, Dante's is a small company running four carts, and during the spring/summer their lifeblood is catering events like the Sounders gig - so it hurt the lone vendor while it benefited my roommate in tips.

There is a lot going on in the world of hotdogpolitik.

I think our new police chief - whoever it is - needs to crack down on any CEOs or Millionaires buying hotdogs from illegal hot dog vendors.

Unless the hot dog vendors are cute ...
17
You're supposed to call them "Freedomfurters"

@14,

If the tipper is talking about the permanent stand in that building adjacent to Westlake (the building that also houses See's and Sephora), then, no, it's not illegal.

Sheesh.
19
I regret that I have but one maple bar to give for my country.

But many foot longs.

@18

then that would not be IN the park. semantics!!!

Please wait...
