Ha Ha Ha! The fucking Cubs make the Mariners look good! HAFUCKINGHADEHAHA!!!!! Lee is nasty, just wish we could keep him...
2
Did you hear your fat-ass "ace" pussed out on pitching today?
3
Doug

Fat ass has lost weight. And when they pulled him off the mound in his last start he nearly pulled a Zambrano and blew up at Lou. So he didn't puss out. He was pulled out. A fine distinction, perhaps. . .

And, Slake, you out there?

Shit, if we could trade leagues with Milwaukee we could be in the World Series.

I wept tears of bitter frustration last night watching Lee dominate his second complete game in a row. Why? Why can't we re-sign him to a multiyear contract? Imagine a rotation going forward with Lee and Felix for years to come.

Why are the Baseball Gods so cruel?

Peter

You're asking a CUBS FAN ABOUT HOW CRUEL THE BASEBALL GODS ARE TO YOU!?!?!?!?

Sorry, time to hit the sauce.

In other news, Colorado has just won its series with Boston, and a win tonight will give the Rockies a sweep. They have also broken the Red Sox's 9-series winning streak in interleague play. Stupid Stupid Red Sox Nation.
8
Yes, Matt, but come October, the Bosox will still be a contender. The Rockies, er, won't.

@ 2 -- What? No chance to test the Curse of Silva???

Why are the Baseball Gods so perverse?

I was looking forward to the hooverville party, until I got strep throat.

I love the Cubs, and they won for me on my birthday this year when I made a pilgrimage to Chicago specifically to see them play at Wrigley. My first ever Cubs home game and it was awesome. There's really no place on earth like Wrigley Field. But I was born and raised in Seattle so I know where my true loyalties lie. And pitchers shouldn't hit. It's weird. Also, starting sentences with conjunctions is totally fine. It's what all the cool kids are doing and if all the cool kids jumped off a bridge I'd totally do that too (unless there was a big fence in the way).

Shit. This series is a far cry from the last time the Cubs came to town and swept the M's. I believe that year the Cubs had as many losses as the M's had wins.

I love the Cubs, and I'm from nowhere near Chicago. Know why I love 'em? Here are two reasons: 1) Wrigley Field. 2) Cubs fans who show up rain or shine, win or lose. To me, that's baseball. Fans who only turn out when the team is winning is such chicken shit. With props to all the Mariners fans who do attend religiously, Safeco Field only fills when the Mariners are having a good year. "Buck-toothed and ball-less," my father would say.

I love the National League, and I think the DH ruins baseball. I realize I may be the only one left who thinks that, but there you are.

Okay, because I'm a sucker for a good argument (and not because I don't like the Cubs or Wrigley field)...

http://espn.go.com/blog/sweetspot/post/_…

Attendance at Wrigley is affected by the same factors as attendance at other ballparks (the team not playing as well, and the economy, etc).

Not only that but attendance at Wrigley is also affected by the fact that it is Wrigley. People (like myself, see above) travel from all around to go to games there. Here we get into a bit of chicken or egg logic trouble because you (@13) said that part of the reason you like the Cubs is Wrigley...so are people fans of the Cubs or fans of the friendly confines? Like I said, there's really no place like it. It has a sort of sacred feel about it.

In any event, Mariners fans have no Wrigley and yet we are still loyal to our team rain or shine, winning or losing as well...maybe the discrepency (if there is one) is in the fact that we don't get people coming out just to be in our ballpark. Though we do get a fair number of people who come just to see Ichiro so maybe it's a wash.

As for the DH...well my assertion that pitchers shouldn't hit isn't so much an endorsement of the DH (though some of my favorite players have been DH), it's more that I think pitching is a special skill and that pitchers shouldn't be required to hit as well. DH is one way, having one less batter would be another.

I love baseball any way it's played though. AL or NL.

The Cubs have the world's ugliest fans. It's been a freak show at Safeco all week.

Doug

You ever been to the South Side of Chicago? you want Ugly, check out Sox fans. . .
