Long-term trends matter; short-term trends don't. Small sample size theater.
2
When you have very small numbers, such as we have here in the safe city of Seattle, minor fluctuations from a few disturbed people will make the numbers jump dramatically, but it's still safer than some meth-head infested GOP wonderland.
3
your thirdworld shithole bankrupt welfare state is collapsing around your hipster ears.
expect more crime and violence.
lots more.
4
@2: Agree. A typical summer weekend in Chicago nets more violent crime than a whole year in Seattle (or Denver, for that matter).
5
At the end of 2008, the unemployment rate in Seattle was 5.4%. It was roughly double that at the beginning of 2010. An increase in crime over the same time period needs no other explanation.
6
@5 actually, right now, our unemployment rate in Seattle is about 1 percent less than the rate in the rest of the state. Which is why it's so violence-prone outside of Seattle.

Sucks to be the rest of the state.
7
We better ban handguns like Chicago, Newark, and Baltimore. That cleared their violence problems right up.
8
@7: That'll be a moot point after next Monday, when the Supreme Court says cities aren't allowed to ban handguns.

Please wait...
