Good morning and happy Friday. In other news:

Major storm, tornados slam Connecticut.

Massachusetts school district under fire for distributing condoms to students.

iPhone 4 users report problems with dropped calls.

And is this the Headline of the Day? Or is this?

The anti-gay bigots are sneaky cowards. And the real reason they want to hide is they have businesses that people can boycott. That has always been the real reason they want to hide. They want to deprive others of their rights while they take their money. That's the crux.

Is Slog ignoring the Wall Street Journal/NBC poll that shows Americans have a plus 3% positive image of the Tea Party Movement but a negative 9% image of the Democratic Party?
5
How about the same poll that shows 62% of Americans think America is on the wrong track?

And that 45% of Americans disapprove of the job Obama is doing vs 42% approve?

And in the generic "Democrat/Republican" comparison the GOP leads by 2% (for the first time in YEARS...)
but wait!
when "likely voters" are asked the generic "Democrat/Republican" comparison the GOP margin jumps to 21%!!!!!!!!

Is Slog ignoring that?

When are midterm elections?
6
@1's linked condom story is taking place in Provincetown, MA. That sorta shocked me... I thought P-town was one of the more liberal and open minded areas in Cape Cod?
7
"Obama's biggest problem: He's lost the middle — the so-called independent and moderate voters.

According to the poll, 52 percent of self-described independent voters disapprove of the job Obama is doing.

He's even losing parts of his base. The poll finds Obama with 17 percent disapproval among Democrats — the highest number of his presidency."

ooooh.
that's bad.....
8
May I be an honorary Gay? I want to go parade!
9
"In the survey, 45% said they wanted to see a Republican-controlled Congress after November, compared to 43% who wanted Democratic control.

But even more telling is the excitement gap between the core voters of each party.

Just 44% of Obama voters—those who voted for Mr. Obama in 2008 —now express high interest in the midterm elections.
That's a 38-point drop from this stage in the 2008 campaign.

By contrast, 71% of voters who supported Republican John McCain in 2008 expressed high interest in this year's elections, slightly higher than their interest level at this stage in that campaign."

...the midterms have us tingly all over.
how bout you?
10
It is, Urgutha; that's why I thought it was newsworthy.
11
"Just one-third think the economy will get better over the next year, a 7-point drop from a month ago and the low point of Mr. Obama's tenure."

Hope?
that didn't last long......
12
Maybe if enough of us stop being gay, Jesus will fix everything.
13
"Immigration reform gearing up to be a decisive midterm election issue."

An issue that fires up the right.
Twenty states are considering similar laws.
Will hipsters boycott them all?

we can Hope.....

Cienna, Dominic linked some interesting FBI statistics that address the gay/religion hate crime issue you mentioned.

According to the FBI statistics Dominic linked in the most recent reported year 19.5 percent of hate crimes were motivated by religious bias and 16.7 percent stemmed from sexual-orientation bias (and less than 60% of those targeted gay men).

Did you see it?

Do you think that routinely labeling everyone who disagrees with you a 'bigot' contributes to the atmosphere of anti-religious hate and anti-religious violence?
15
My son was born at just over 24 weeks (extreme preemie), and he most definitely felt pain. He's almost eight years old now, and quite a character, btw.
16
"Full Stop", after scanning your comments over the last few days I ask that whatever Slog may or may not be ignoring, may it please make a point of ignoring you.
17
Speaking of the Gay Agenda, Cienna, did you see the UCLA study that shows a third of homosexual relationships involve violence and sexual abuse by one intimate partner against the other?

http://newsroom.ucla.edu/portal/ucla/nea…

(That is twice the rate among heterosexuals)

Studies show that children in homes where one partner abuses the other are much more likely to also be abused and neglected.
And much more likely to grow up to be abusers.

Do you think this has any implications for the issue of allowing homosexuals to adopt children?
18
16
have we run out of Midol?
19
Speaking of the Gay Agenda, Cienna, did you see Gary and Tony on CNN last night?

Is not their baby absolutely precious?!

Why is Slog not joining the rest of the American Family in sharing this special moment?

(....has Dan forbade the Slog to mention any Gay dads other than himself?!?)
20
Stupid meth-heads trying to sell the baby at Walmart: People only go there to buy Chinese crap!
21
"Do you think that routinely labeling everyone who disagrees with you a 'bigot' contributes to the atmosphere of anti-religious hate and anti-religious violence?"

Those FBI stats that you are talking about are the results of us "good ol' boy 'mericans" beating up on them "Arab" sumsabitches, not - as I guess you probably believe - on poor Christians getting pummeled and punished for their faith.

I am tired of the mindset that goes "Oh, woe is me. Every time I try to explain, as Jesus would have me do, to the homosexuals that they are an abomination and should be driven from the face of the earth, they call me a bigot. I'm being prosecuted for my religious beliefs!"

STFUA!

More drug cartel news from the Arizona border.
http://mobile.reuters.com/mobile/m/FullA…
The police could use some of those perverted dominatixes.
23
$25?

I bet Gary and Tony
are feeling pretty ripped off right now....

Would you like a donut, Paul?
25
@21: Seconded. The Period Hive Mind seems to be out in full force today. It's sad though, because all they ever do is make idiots of themselves and misquote/misattribute statistics in order to try and back up their fallacious arguments.

@17: I'm going to cuntpaste what I wrote before, since the news that you can't read raw data correctly seems not to have percolated through the Period Hive Mind fully. I'll put it in big friendly bold letters to make sure you notice it.
Hey you moron, I've explained this to you too many times. Gays, lesbians, and bisexuals are more likely to have been abused by a partner AT SOME POINT. Your claim about "a third of homosexual couples" is an outright lie. Due to the phenomenon of closeting (and the fact that bisexuals swing both ways), there's no guarantee that their abuser was also L/G/B. And I can think of plenty of reasons why a closeted homosexual or bisexual would be more likely to be abused by a (straight) partner. Go catch sacbrood, Period Hive Drone.
26
Thanks, Fifty-Two-Eighty. The condomn one is fascinating. Having seen eleven year olds who were expecting, I'm not inclined to freak about condomns being made available to elmentary age children.
27
Ah yes. We were talking about the romantic exploits of your fifth-graders a while ago.
28
be sure to remind the kiddies that Dan says anal fisting can't get them pregnant....
29
@15,

Yes, your son was born at over 24 weeks. Did you have a point of some kind?
30
29
the better question is what is the point of the post...
it is OK to kill someone if you do it painlessly?
31
Keshmeshi: Plus, this study didn't find that 24-week-old fetuses felt no pain AFTER THEY WERE REMOVED FROM THE WOMB. And unless this parent posting here is more psychic than a German octopus, s/he has no idea whether his/her son felt pain as a fetus in the womb.
32
It is wrong to kill someone. Fetuses are not someones.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YkgDhDa4H…
33
It wasn't any of my fifth graders. One was my neighbor, we grew up in Los Angeles together. The others were patients at County/USC that I crossed paths with.
34
@30 Is it alright to lie constantly about how fetuses (which you always refer to as "babies" or "people" because "fetuses" sounds too much like what it really is) are Silently Screaming and how cruel it is to terminate a pregnancy when you're doing it to serve your own moral(istic) ends? Cause you do lie constantly about this stuff.

Bonus question: Is it really "cruelty" if no pain is felt?
35
why do they call it PMS?
because mad cow disease was already taken.

Please wait...
