Jen, this is the sole reason I was excited about the iPad-- as a friend said "I can't wait for my 500 dollar Cintiq" (For those that don't know, the Cintiq is a drawing tablet with a built-in screen you draw on which costs about 1,300 bucks and is used by game and animation Pros).

I have the Brushes app on my iPod Touch and the only frustration is manipulating a tiny screen; the iPad changes that by a factor of 3. And for those wondering about 'finger-painting, they make styluses for the whole i-line (Pogo Stylus) for more delicate control.

Imagine it: A whole classroom full of kids learning fine art (anatomy, composition, color theory, etc), without the limitation of school art supplies.

This app and others (Sketchbook Pro is iPad ready) represent a revolution in on-the-fly art and sketching. And if you don't think Art Industry professionals are paying attention, tell that to the Art Director of The New Yorker who has already published at least 4-5 pieces on the cover by a NYC artist who uses his iPhone.

The video is cool and all, but it made me very self-conscious about pushing up my black framed hipster nerd glasses all the time which the painter guy seems to do 4 times a second in this film.

Jen - wrong. That was very cool.
