I can't even begin to comprehend how fucked up that is.
2
Genetically, getting three-fourths of your DNA from one source is highly risky, to say nothing of what tends to happen to the kid.
3
so her and her kid finishing HIGH SCHOOL is such a wonderful, complicated thing that they basically had to live through hell to achieve it? No Harvard Med School degree is worth what that must have been going on on that girl's head while she was pregnant.
4
Oh, fuck off and die, you sanctimonious bitch.
5
That story, as told by Angle, has got to be the biggest crock of shit I have heard in a long while.
6
Since I had the experience of [insert personal anecdote], that means every situation is identical to my own!
7
She probably drinks Fritzl lemonade.
8
faaaaaaaaaaaake

What a fucking crackpot. If you're going with the "God's Plan" argument for everything, let's talk about people with cancer. Or diabetes. Or a little kid getting hit by a car. Why is rape or incest that results in pregnancy part of "God's Plan" that we shouldn't disrupt, but it's perfectly ok to intervene in those other situations?

Dumbass.
10
She's a lying liar.
11
What part of 'my personal feelings have nothing to do with upholding the law' does Sharon Angle not understand?
12
As a Nevadan, it will give me the greatest of pleasure to vote against her in the fall..
13
She has no right to make decisions for others! Unless she has been raped and impregnanted by her father at 13, than she can shut the fuck up. My mother had this happen to her twice and both times her "father" took her to get abortions. Why is it always the girls responsibility to deal with it when she was the one raped? The rapists should be hung by their balls.
14
I'm calling fake too.
15
If inspiring some rapist can be part of god's plan, why can't the rape survivor's abortion also be part of god's plan?
16
yuck yuck yuck yuck yuck yuck
17
Girls will start killing themselves. How "pro-life" is that?
18
She has the audacity to call incestuous rape "part of God's plan"?
As long as we're talking about God's plan, the Old Testament CLEARLY prohibits incest of any sort, and has some harsh words to say about rape in general. So apparently when things like that (that religious people believe to be evil and worthy of death) happen, it's all part of God's plan.
Fuck her, that sanctimonious cuntwhorebitch.
19
Until this "woman" gets raped and gives birth to and raises the child, anything she has to say on the matter is moot.
20
@18-- Thank you! Biblical literacy is an important weapon for confronting these nutcases. Also, it occasionally makes me feel like my grad work is worthwhile. ;)
21
@6: Well said. This form of "logic" is so goddamn common, and so goddamn flawed. The more people start pointing it out the better.

Never trust anyone who tells you they know something is true "from my own personal experience."
22
@18, though various forms of incest are forbidden in the Bible, as I recall father-daughter incest is not explicitly included on that list. Further, there's a fairly famous example of it, when Lot's two daughters get him drunk and then sleep with him, and have children with him.
Rape is explicitly forbidden in the Bible, though its also happily engaged in and ordered by god all over the Old Testament (Now therefore, kill every male among the little ones, and kill every woman that hath known man by lying with him. But all the young girls who have not known a man by lying with him, keep alive for yourselves. (Numbers 31:17-18 RSV) ). A man can also make up for the crime of raping a woman...by paying her father for the damaged property (Deuteronomy 22:28-29) and marrying his rape victim.

Generally, I wouldn't go looking to the Bible for my morality, and much less if its about the treatment of women.
23
And I'll tell you the little girl who was born from that very poor situation came to **a broken condom** when she was 13 and said 'I know what you did thank you for saving my life.' So it is meaningful to err on the side of life.

what else would be really funny there?
24
When life gives you baby juice, make babies!
25
@22: Lot's daughters get punished for that one, remember. The Bible encourages or condones a decent number of things that we today find unacceptable, but incest isn't one of them.
26
I wonder how she would feel if her husband raped & impregnated her daughter? ... everything about this story defies comprehension.

And about those lemons ... when life gives you shit, what beverage does Ms. Angle suggest we make?
27
Anyone else wonder why, if the rape and conception are part of God's Plan, abortions aren't also part of God's Plan? It can't possibly have anything to do with human agency or intervention, as the pregnancy is already indisputably the result of human action.

Granted, God already performs countless abortions every day, as only about 1/4 of fertilized ova implant and don't auto-abort before fetal viability, so clearly some of them are part of His Divine Plan, but I'd still be curious to see how a person versed in any particular brand of anti-abortion Christianity rationalizes the contradiction.

@venomlash #25: See comment #22. Also, if Adam and Eve were the progenitors of all humanity, a considerable amount of parent-child and sibling-sibling incest would have been necessary, with good ol' Yahweh tweaking every child's genes until we reached sufficient genetic diversity to not wind up as physically- and mentally-handicapped creatures incapable of meeting our basic survival needs. Then again, why are we even bothering to refute this stupid shit? The faithful don't listen, and everyone else already knows better.

@jhops #26: Well, you can use shit as fertilizer, and dried shit-patties can be used as a fuel source to cook the things you grow with the other shit. Mushrooms, in fact, LOVE shit. So I would recommend some delicious, shit-enabled pasta with a morel white wine cream sauce.

Please wait...
