She picked up a firearm and threatened people with it, and was reaching for it again when the policeman pulled the trigger. It's perfectly reasonable for a police officer to Tase her, and her death is frankly her own damn fault.
From what I read, the police actions were completely justified. It's too bad she died, but she threatened police with a gun... scenerios like that don't usually have cheerful endings.
I *suppose* they could have tried to use something more gentle, given her age, but what? This is what tasers are designed for.
It's too bad that people who obviously want to die in the US have to go to the extreme of suicide by cop to do it. She was either senile or had a death wish. Either way they put her out of her and everyone else's misery.

"He/she was always quiet and never gave us any trouble. Nothing like this ever happened before."
Speaking of firearms, I just read this ghastly account:

A 2 y/o toddler shot to death by his own 9 y/o brother by accident. Fucking bloody tragic. When will handgun owners learn?
I'm just praying for the big CVA from the sky when I'm 85, thankyouverymuch.
