What the hell kind of "information" is contained in light?
3
Light can tell us many things! Spectrometers can tell us the temperature of distant stars. What they are made of. How fast they are moving. In fact light teaches us about the universe. Why couldn't plants carry light information? Intensity, direction...etc. We share a great deal of DNA with plants.

"I need to take some samples."

certainly didn't have to consult the byline on this post.

@2 You are so quaint!

Since Japanese scientists showed that humans actually emit photons from our bodies, perhaps plants can recognize individuals as well.

Everything is alive!

Plants are pretty keen, and can both emit and react to different wavelengths of light, especially when you bioengineer them.

Did you know that the bred offspring of a bioengineered plant and a standard plant variant are considered organic under USDA rules? Keen!
8
Plants are able to remember and react, perchance to dream?

Now what can I eat?

I love how I don't have to look at the "posted by" line to recognize your writing.
