CNN has a 648,000 total viewer audience.
Fox may not be winning in the highly coveted "people who drink malt liquor" demographic. But it seems to be kicking ass in the larger "people who don't drink malt liquor" demo.

Seattle has lower percent of blacks than U.S.
Seattle's population includes 8.4 percent who identified themselves as African American or black; another 1.4 percent selected black in combination with one or more other races. The proportions of the populations of King County and Washington State that are black are smaller than Seattle's at 5.4 percent and 3.2 percent respectively. Twelve percent of the U.S. population is black. People who chose black or African American as well as one or more other races to describe themselves accounted for another 1.1 percent of King County, 0.8 percent of Washington State, and 0.6 percent of the US population.

This stat (regarding FOX News viewers, whatever their racial preference) and comment are irrelevant to me. I believe a far more important question is: What percentage of Americans (collectively or by racial category) READ their news? I don't watch FOX, CNN or even Rachel Maddow. But, I can read a wide array of media from the NYT to National Review to the Nation and believe I can discern and absorb far more info and opinion than any televised news. I just think Americans need to watch less TV media and read more. It would benefit their information gathering and expand their vocabulary.
Is it any wonder that Black Americans don't want to watch a show that keeps telling them how crappy they are? Or that white guys who are used to being atop the world DO want to watch that?

Actually, while my comment acknowledges the fact that malt liquor drinkers are disproportionally black, (according to the Institute on Black Chemical Abuse, African Americans consume one-third of all malt liquor although they constitute only 12% of the population (Marin Institute, 1994).), it assumes that most other malt liquor drinkers (for instance Commenter # 36) also shun FOX.
My reference to Wendy Williams (and BET) is partly in response to the main thrust of the story (Gee! Different races watch different programming! Who woulda thunk it!?) but is primarily meant to draw attention to the folly of relying on the criticism of a network's content from people who admittedly don’t watch that network.
In other words, not being a BET watcher (who happens to be white) I am about as qualified to comment on the “newsworthiness” (or racism) of BET’s programming as a person who does not watch FOX (who happens to be black) is to comment on the “racism” (or newsworthiness) of FOX’s programming.
Wendy Williams (not a news program) is a veiled dig on my part meant to illuminate the fact that BET has no news programming, and highlight the obvious lack of importance that the Black community (That is BET’s target audience? Right?) places on broadcast news (for whatever reason), and to perhaps further draw into question why anyone would care who’s news blacks do or do not watch.
It seems rather like asking which ham kosher Jews prefer to eat with their shrimp and oysters.
Failing to tailor your product to appeal to a demographic is not prejudice. Neither is doing so. It is not in the least bit surprising that the greater a product appeals to one demographic, let’s say “people who don’t drink malt liquor”, the lesser the appeal of that same product to other demographics, like the one to which commenter #36 belongs. The fact that commenter #36’s demographic includes a disproportionate number of blacks may be strictly coincidental (or might not be) but their lack of interest in FOX’s news product is not informative or relevant.

By my count at least twelve of the 21 murders in Seattle in 2009 were committed by blacks, who in total make up only 8% of Seattle.
GUESS WHAT! 2010 is going to turn out JUST AS BAD OR WORSE.
Bottom line:
Black "crime-prone age" males (ages 14 - 45) make up less than 3% of Seattle (remember Seattle is only 8% black) but over half of the murders in Seattle every year are committed by blacks.
