Staged.
2
"I'm tired of guys like this" -- 'nuf said.
3
c) all of the above.
4
Agreed. Fake!
5
i did that to a friend's model in arch. school when i was 20. i didn't sleep till i rebuilt it, but i still feel the shame.
6
Thanks. I needed that.
7
Aw, the reporter himself says it was staged:

8
He's lying!
9
"We'll get this taken care of."
10
I want to say it was staged, but I think the sculptor would've been lots more upset. (Unless he wasn't a real sculptor, just a bad actor, I guess.)
11
Why would they fake this?
12
@7: That's pretty funny. Nobody but the cameraman, the sculptor, and the reporter knew the whole thing was staged.
13
It's ice. It's a sunny, warm day. It's going away anyway. I say fake.
14
I can't quite reconcile "This is my prized possession" with "This is something that didn't exist until I made it myself eight hours ago." Especially paired with "This is an ice sculpture." How can an ice sculpture that a guy made in a single day be his prized possession? Can't he just make another one tomorrow?

(Of course, I suppose that's what the reporter was trying to ask when he shattered the thing.)
15
it wasn't free standing ever, the sculptor was holding it up the whole time, until the reporter touched it
16
It was an ice sculpture of a cherub.

The reporter did the world a service.
17
@11: So we'd be talking about it.

Mission: accomplished.
18
@15, now that I look at it again, it looks like the sculptor lets it go at the same time the reporter puts his hand on it.
19
Holy schedenfreude.
20
If it seems like a fake, it's a fake...
21
gloomy @ 7 has already linked to an interview which establishes that the thing was a set-up, which it obviously was. And yet people will continue to debate its authenticity. Weird.
22
Fake.
23
Fakefakefakefakefake.
24
Both stupid.

Please wait...
