Hilarious...and horrifying.

One of my theses is that the 20th century will be described as the pinnacle of horror for human existence.

Guess it hasn't totally ended yet.

But Charles, my dear, this IS progress. In 1863 a merchant could at best spread his favors apon dozens, perhaps at the most hundreds, of his fellow countrymen. Today, thanks to advancements in modern science he can contaminate hundreds of millions in one fell swoop.
3
Right Chuck, nothing, nothing at all, has changed since 1863. Everything is exactly the same or much much worse.
4
Well, you see, we used to have this thing called the FDA, until they gutted it and made it the only agency in all of government specifically charged with MARKETING for its charges, not policing them.

Penicillin.

What, no progress? That means Marx was wrong.

Progress since 1863? Like in life expectancy? Rates of starvation and disease? Rates of violent death? Rates of poverty? Rates of sexism and racism?

Oh, but yeah, once in a while we discover a filthy egg farm, so there must not be any progress.
8
Let me just add that to suggest that this illegally filthy egg farm is an indication that there has been no progress in food production since 1863 is at Glenn Beck levels of stupid childishness.
9
It was a Republican Salmonella outbreak, and those were Republican eggs. When Republicans say they want small unintuitive government, this is what they mean.
10
*unintrusive.

Stupid spell check
