Let's call it by its right name, here in Slog if nowhere else. It is not and never was a "war." It was an invasion and occupation by an aggressor nation. Funny that no one thinks of it that way.

Iraq never attacked the US. The pretense for the "war" - weapons of mass destruction - was based on blatantly false intelligence. Despite Iraq's non-compliance with UN monitoring, the UN never gave the US the go-ahead to enforce those terms on behalf of the international community.

And yet even in the ultra-liberal pages of the Slog, it's still called a "war." Fascinating!

Redecorating the White House is part of the administration's normal budget. The red tape involved with transferring that money to another part of the federal budget would likely exceed the original dollar amount.

Honey. Trust me. There is nothing nouveau about my riche. It's 6 generations old.

Although, admittedly, most of my furniture, art, silver, crystal and china has only been “with us” for 5 generations. The original paterfamilias preferred to buy (and hold) land, banks, railroads, mills and mineral rights. Bless his soul.
