Hopefully some Serbs, Croats, and Bosniaks will show up and get into a slanging match over the Milosevic legacy. He's still considered a national hero in parts of Serbia. All three groups are vigorous supporters of genocide as long as they right genos are being cided. Might want to sit by the exit in case the chairs start flying, though.

I am in complete agreement with you Paul - I love to hit a Mom & Pop for dinner on The Ave before a reading at the U-bookstore or split a scone with my date at Third Place before hearing an author read. In addition to "regular" authors, I've heard Chris Elliott, Eric Bogosian, Amy Sedaris, Nick Hornby and Michael Chabon give some mightily entertaining readings and Q&A sessions. It's always a great, cheap night out.

don't forget that for $20 you can go to a SAL event and sit in the balcony. yeah, i know, it's expensive but worth the splurge now and again for a night in benaroya hall, listening to folks like art spiegelman, junot diaz, and updike. franzen will be there the week after next.

Please wait...
