It's Rasmussen so it's bought-and-paid-for propaganda. Let's see what others say.

WTF!

You have to sign in to see their crosstabs?

Yuck

This poll was done by Pulse Opinion Research, who also did yesterday's Fox News Poll. That poll over sampled Republicans and I bet this one has done the same.

What BS these assholes try to pull.

Regardless of whose poll you believe, it's a fairly tight race. For the first time, I actually went in and volunteered for a few hours for the Patty Murray campaign doing phone calls. It wasn't nearly as scary as I thought it might be (basically calling likely Democrat voters and getting their verbal commitment to send in their ballot). Apparently this increases voter participation significantly. So, if you're at all worried about Rossi being elected, you might consider putting in a few hours for Murray.
5
did you girls see that Congress is going home without passing a budget OR blocking the tax hike?

somebody is toast in November.......
6
There's no reason not to think that it will be yet another very, VERY, close election.
7
@6 That won't happen, not going to be a blowout but Murray should win by 6-7 points or so. rossi is kind of screwed. If he goes too conservative the moderates move away and if he too moderate he loses the Tea Party.
8
Does Rasmussen have anything remotely resembling a reliable track-record? Seems to me they publish this sort of polling every election cycle, and so far as I can recall, it never turns out to be nearly as close as their numbers always seem to indicate it should.
9
@8, Rasmussen has a well-established lean. That's not the same thing as saying they're wrong, just that you need to adjust their numbers. Looking at single-shot poll results and trying to tell what they "mean" is exactly like trying to tell if a guy is a good shortstop by watching him play a game.

Which leads to...Nate Silver, once again, who not only aggregates poll averages, but explains once again why his methodology works in this piece from yesterday: http://fivethirtyeight.blogs.nytimes.com…

Silver puts Murray at 51-47, with a 76% chance of winning. When he folds the new Rasmussen into the mix, that'll barely budge. Rossi needs to be polling about four or five points higher with Rasmussen to be legitimately ahead.
10
And yet, these are all "likely" voters.

If everyone votes, the polls are meaningless.

You have FOUR DAYS to finish registering to vote ONLINE in WA - have you DONE that?
11
Suburbia already forgot Bush. Amazing.
12

The formula is as follows: Take Rasmussen's results and add five points to the Democrat's totals, and you get an approximation of where the race actually stands.
13
They're quoting a 4% margin of error. Looks like a dead heat to me.
14
@13 Dear sir or madam,

Due to your misuse and probable lack of understanding of statistics and how they work, you are no longer allowed to use them. Please feel free to make due with lies and damn lies.

It's disappointing, but it is what I expected to read in "The Stranger".

Prior to retiring a few years ago, my partner and I always ran ads in your newspaper. While we're not Gay, we have a lot of friends who are. We had (then) Long Term Care insurance that would take anyone, including Gay couples, as long as neither tested HIV Positive. None took advantage of our coverage, though there are some that could have clearly benefited from it.

Now, you continue to Straight-bash. How interesting, that I have fought for the rights of Gays, donated to overturn Prop 8 in CA, convinced the Republican who chaired the House Health Care Committee in WA State to vote for "Equal Rights" (you idiots keep calling it "Gay rights, it's Equal rights, numb-nuts), which he did, but you still, always, bash the straights, even when ObamaCare is ruining the nation. Do you care? Of course not. Most of you are simply too damn selfish. You are only interested in what you can get pout of life, screw anyone else.

Rasmussen is no more "bought and paid for" than is Ellway, or the WSJ/NBC poll, or any other polling service. Good grief, grow up, and act like you deserve Equal Rights, and not like crybaby children.

Many independents, which I am, are on your side, but it seems like you want to do all you can to "shove us away". What's the problem, bubalehs? You only like and respect other Gays, screw the straights?

You, who condemn those of us in small businesses, Gay or straight, are fools.
19
Are none of you who post here even mildly in favor of ethics, fairness, equality, or small businesses?

Prior to my retiring, a couple of years ago, my partner and I ran ads in "The Stranger" all the time. We had booths set up during the Gay Pride parades.

We had couple's insurance for Gays, that would cover you for Long Term Care as long as neither was HIV positive at the time of application. None of you bought. Thought you were invincible, though some of you aren't alive today, because of AIDS.

You exhibit real arrogance and disgust for any one who doesn't think as do you, even if those of us who are straight have many Gays who are friends, relatives, and believe everyone is entitled to "EQUAL RIGHTS" (Gay rights is a foolish phrase, immediately disenfranchising any other minority...Selfish, very selfish of you).

You all "LOVE" Patty Murray. Why? She has done nothing for you. She has harmed small businesses, and some of you must run small businesses; even "The Stranger" is a small business. Patty Murray is a grim faced, tax loving, very wealthy politician who has grown wealthy at YOUR expense, and her continuing to be the fourth largest Pork Provider, I.e. Earmarks, in Congress, and in the Senate, should bother you. However, that would mean that you really believe in Ethics, of which Murray has none.

Remember when WA State passed the so-called "Gay-rights Bill" (foolish name, should have been called the EQUAL rights bill)? I was chairing the campaign for the Chairman of the House Health Care Committee, a Republican, and he voted for passage. There are a number of Republicans who don't lie, as do many Democrats who really have an anarchistic arrogance only exceeded by some of the arrogance displayed by you on this blog. Yet, instead of cultivating relationships that can help YOUR cause, you prefer to stick your middle finger in the air and tell us we don't matter...haven't you heard that enough, about you?

Try thinking, I mean THINKING, with your brain, and stop being fools. It is really as though you do not want "Equal Rights"...if you had them, then what would you "bitch" about?
20
Sorry, I didn't men to post twice. I didn't think that the first one "took". My apologies.

Edmund Burke:

I've noticed that you pontificate a lot.

The real Edmund Burke said, "The only thing necessary for evil to prevail is for good men to do nothing."

Other than your pontificating and being sarcastic to others, what have you done to help dig US out of the ditch? Simply bloviating helps nothing, and no one.

"The Stranger" links to Rasmussen, so it must feel that Rasmussen offers credible polling; CNN, MSNBC, and many other media link to Rasmussen (as does FOX), so does that mean that "The Stranger", CNN, MSNBC, and other media are not to be trusted? I think not.

Another oft quoted poll is the WSJ/NBC poll. The WSJ is certainly conservative in POV, however NBC is as liberal as WSJ is conservative. Should we not trust them? That would be foolish.

Polls, by their very nature, don't tell the whole story, but they are good indicators. The Rossi/Murray race has been "neck and neck" almost since it started. While Murray is a bonafide progressive liberal Democrat, Rossi is far more moderate as a Republican. The fellow who caused me concern, and should have caused you concern, was Clint Didier, the Tea-bagger. He is no longer in the race. Count your blessings.

Of major importance in a candidate winning an election is when their "supporters" get off their butts, roll up their sleeves, and go to work door-belling, phone calling, donating real money (not a dollar, or even five dollars, but enough to really help), and do a combination of all of the above.

As "Will in Seattle" pointed out, it is important to VOTE,whether online or not. Have you done that?

"beaugirl" and "dnt trust me" clearly are putting some sweat equity into the candidates in whom they believe. Have the rest of you done that, or do you just like to sit on the sidelines, watch the game, and do your duty by "Monday Night Quarterbacking"? We will know in a few more days.

Please wait...
