If you want to put down a dog quickly and humanely, use a gun. Chainsaws don't cut quickly enough and would be needlessly painful (not to mention dangerous for whoever was trying to use the saw).
@1- Will, seriously, did you not notice it in yesterday's Slog morning round-up? Just because YOU don't know something doesn't mean the rest of us are in the same condition.
@8 I get my info from many sources - sometimes the US media won't pick up on something I heard about almost a week ago - so I don't catch all the stuff, except when it's a full post cause I do this neat thing called refresh and open tabs.
hey, sometimes SLOG posts 2 or 3 different posts about the same news, so don't get on my case ...
Holy shit, Will! Tabs? That sounds AWESOME! Tell us how you do it!
Also feel free to tell us how you heard about this "almost a week ago" when it happened on Wednesday night. These "many sources" of yours must be INCREDIBLY KICK ASS! Not like us dummies who are too stupid to get our Federal Way news from international sources.
Of course, in reality, zero foreign news sources covered this story at all, except insofar as they were covering the Seattle Times story you linked to. There are no foreign news organizations in Federal Way.
Your "case" isn't sturdy enough for you to get on it, let alone the rest of us.
You know Fnarf, most days you're pretty boring. This is one of those days.
I don't tend to comment on a lot of the international news here unless it's posted. But I tend to skip local media mostly, even if some of my friends actually do pit bull rescue around here.
common lore here in New Mexico says that the only way to ascertain whether a dog has rabies or not is by testing the brain tissue. When a random dog bites a random child, the only way to know if that dog has rabies is - you guessed it - bringing the dog's head in to the lab for testing. oh and guess what? the internet says it's true. thank you Obama for bringing broadband to our benighted land
@12 that doesn't mean you have to cut the animal's head off while it's still alive. You can kill it and then take it in... or call that Socialist organization "Animal Control".
Seriously? A fucking chainsaw?! A dog's only as good as its people, and if that dog belonged to the ahole who took it upon himself to decapitate it with gardening equipment, I'm not surprised that the dog was attacking children. Fuck.
Not that anyone in Seattle would hear about it.
If it doesn't happen in Downtown or North of the Ship Canal, it's not "news" cause it only affects poor people.

Case in point: Police in Federal Way receive emergency calls at 6:15pm Wednesday, respond, shoot pit bulls.
Evidence: A link to a Seattle Timesstory, posted 8:14am Thursday.
Analysis of Claim: Hah. Hahaha. Hahahahahahahahahahaha. Oh, brother.
